He hadn't been entirely on board with the idea when Steve first suggested it.

In all honesty, the demon would rather laze in the sun, or perhaps nap on Steve's couch with the fireplace lit close by; he'd much rather try his luck at convincing Steve it was a great idea to stay in bed all day, not that the miner was very hard to convince.. In the end, his human companion simply knew him a little too well, knew exactly how to get what he wanted from the powerful man, and had made an offer Herobrine would be an even crazier man than he was to refuse.

"You remember the rules, Brine?" The words pulled the demon's gaze to his partner's eyes from where it certainly hadn't been resting on the curve of the man's ass mere moments before. "Of course, Stevie~ Who do you take me for?" Herobrine all but purred back, "Mhm," it seemed Steve wasn't falling for it. "what are they, then?" With a roll of white eyes came his answer; "No teleportation, no glitching, safe word is law."

Steve nodded, deeming this answer good enough, then made his way to the caverns' entrance, "Once I'm out of sight the twenty minutes starts." Herobrine only nodded in acknowledgement of the words, there were other things on his mind. "Sure you'll be able to run like that?" The demon asked, suppressing a snicker, the other man took the moment to roll his own eyes, though they held a sparkle in them, knowing too well what his boyfriend was referring to. "I'll be fine."

Steve's last words to him before he was lost to the darkness of the cave had been, "Good luck!" Herobrine didn't feel that he needed it, but returned the sentiment anyway. That was just under an hour ago, it'd been roughly thirty five minutes since the demon made his way down the tunnel himself. The first twenty minutes served as time for his human partner to get down into the caverns and tunnels, as not to be found instantly, after that time had passed, though, it became free game; and he hadn't waited a single second longer. Despite the cool dampness of the underground, Herobrine couldn't help but feel heat coursing through his veins as he made his way only closer to his prize. Since he'd come down here into the stone maze he'd held onto a faint idea of where Steve was, as it was now he could feel that they were on the same level, but Steven was a few tunnels away, at least, and without glitching Herobrine had no choice but to simply follow the winding paths and try to get closer. The man would much rather walk right through the barriers. Alas, he'd agreed to the rules his human layed out for him; besides, the longer his search took, the greater the anticipation grew, and the ending to the game could only get better. He knew he'd be the victor, regardless how hard Steve tried. This location may not be in Herobrine's favor, how it was for Steve, but the man was still in his element. He was hunting. And he was not one to lose his prey.

With a grin that revealed the sharp points of his canines the demon picked up his pace. It's not like he'd grow tired, no matter the speed at which he traveled these twists and turns. He oughta use that to his advantage.

Steve would be crazy to think he had powers like Herobrine did, but the miner could have sworn that he felt it the moment his partner entered the mines after him. Perhaps the demon was radiating enough energy that it had become palpable; Steve wouldn't doubt it. Rather than linger on this thought for too long, though, the man raised his glowing torch to one side of him, slipping sideways through a crevice that he'd made himself. Much time had passed since he chipped away at the smooth stone that used to sit heavily in that spot, he had known there must be more cave system just beyond it, so had spent the time breaking through, and he was rewarded for his knowledge and efforts! The miner smiled softly when he felt that joy of finding diamonds rushing through him as the memory resurfaced, it'd been years ago now, two, maybe. The stone walls surrounding him were bare, any precious ores long since stripped away by the very pickaxe that sat in his belt as he walked through the tunnels now, with a different task at hand.
