It was a beautiful sunday morning. As the sunrays entered through the windows and broke Monami's deep sleep, it took her a few moments to blink and adjust to the light. Then she looked towards her left on the bed and  found him, the man of her life, her handsome husband, Karan, shirtless and sleeping like a baby holding the quilt tightly. She recollected everything about the previous night, it was a long, beautiful and oh-so-romantic night. Just as the rising sun cast a rosy hue across the morning sky, a rosy blush appeared on Monami's face when she looked at her own condition. She quickly grabbed her carelessly thrown tee from the floor and quickly covered herself.
She then looked towards the nightstand on her right and saw her favourite picture. It was her family, her world - Karan, Monami and their munchkins - Kriti and Manan. This picture was taken 2 months back, on the 6th birthday of the twin siblings. Monami and Karan were blessed with this crazy double-trouble after 3yrs of marriage.
Nine years it has been being married, she looked at her handsome sleeping husband again and smiled. Nine years of sleeping next to him and he still makes me blush everytime, she thought.

She would have kept adoring her husband longer but her alarm rang with a loud sound that irritates Karan the most - "Kaala chashma" was the song Monami kept as the alarm tone. He always asked her why she chooses this song and spoil such a fun party song and use it for the most irritating part of the day - waking up.
Karan is a rough n tough commando, very serious about his duty towards the motherland, but when he's not on duty and there is no other work, he really really enjoys his morning sleep, especially on Sundays.
Monami dismissed the alarm in a hurry but it broke Karan's sleep and he clearly wasn't happy about it. He said in a sleepy and grumpy voice - "Kya monami.. raat ko nahi sone deti, aur ab subah bhi chain se nahi sone de rahi".
Monami was shocked for a bit, she made a face and fought back - "Haww khadoos kahi ke! Maine nahi sone diya. Matlab sab maine kiya haa. Sab meri galti hai. Haa?"
Karan lazily opened his eyes and smiled towards her. He kept her hand on her face, caressed her cheek and said - "Haa, bilkul. Start toh tumne kiya tha. Agar tum mujhe kal raat unn pyaar bhari nazaro se nahi dekhti, toh.. "
"Toh?" Monami asked, smiling.
"Toh?  Toh kya.. main so paata acche se raat ko 🤣😂 "
"Karan!!!! 😡 " Monami made an angry face and looked away.
He pulled her swiftly making her fall on his chest and he gave her a quick peck on her cheeks. He knows how to lift her mood, always. She blushed looking at him and cheekily said  "Dekho meri galti nahi hai. Jab itna hot aur handsome pati mile na, toh pyaar bhari nazro se dekhne ka hi mann karta hai, mera koi control hi nahi hai".
He smiled and took her lips in a soft and delicate kiss.
"Good morning mere Khadoos Shergill"
"Thanks for making my morning so yummily good, Rani Saheba"

Their eye-lock was broken with the sudden playing of Kaala Chashma once again.
Karan was agitated - "Kya yaar monami, ek toh 5-5 alarm lagati ho har 10min ke baad aur woh bhi itna loud gaana.. "
"Sorry na Karan, kya karu, main isi se uthti hu, tumhe pata hai na"

Monami continued - " Accha sorry. Ab uth jao. Bahut ho gayi baatein. Mujhe ghar ke sau kaam hain. Tum khud bhi utho, aur apne dono shaitano ke room mein jao aur unhe bhi uthao . Aaj hume bahar jaana hai, kitna kaam planned hai, I won't tolerate any indiscipline"
Karan got shocked at Monami's tone at the end and just agreed helplessly - "Yes khadoos ma'am".
Monami laughed, then went out to collect the newspaper and milk from the doorstep while Karan walked towards their children's room.

Monami and Karan had started planning the decoration of the kids room since the day they found out about the pregnancy. Everything in the room was twin designed - twin chairs, twin study tables, twin cabinets, except the bed. They didn't go with two single cots or bunker-beds. They just kept one large queen-size cot because they wanted the kids to stay together and also have sufficient space on the bed for their family time and naps. How would have Mr. 6-feet-tall Shergill fit on a bunker bed with the kids, Monami wondered 😂

The room was half pink and half blue. It was planned to be pink for Kriti and blue for Manan when they got it painted.
But the first time the babies entered the room, Kriti crawled towards the blue side while Manan crawled towards the pink side very naturally. Their Sid mamu was really happy that day, he said in his SidG style to the kids - "Proud of you baccho bros! You have proved it today that color has no gender associated. Jo accha lage woh karo". The babies happily squealed, perhaps not understanding what Sid Mamu said, but amused by his funny hairstyle.

The kids loved the room from day 1, but they didn't sleep there until a few years ago. Monami was very sure that she wanted to keep the kids close to her and not leave them alone at night in a different room away from her. The kids slept with the parents in Moran's room on their King size bed till they turned 3. The parents enjoyed this phase too and knew it wouldn't come again, so they didn't mind all the football kicking that Kriti did or snatch-the-quilt game Manan played at night.

But when they turned 3, big enough to call out for help if they are scared, and more importantly, too big to comfortably fit on the bed with the parents, they got permanently moved to their room. Karan convinced Monami that the kids should start learning to become independent early, they are commandos's kids after all. Monami couldn't agree more, as she had also got her strength by looking upto her mom and her disciplined lifestyle.
Karan was also happy for another reason when the shift happened - he finally could get his alone time with his beautiful wife. He didn't have to listen anymore to - "karan , the kids are here, not now pls". He didn't have to make lame excuses to drop the kids for playdates/babysitting at Koezi or Sidsa's homes and take Monami away for urgent "bank" work. Although, somewhere, both of them enjoyed those sneaky ways to spend some "quality" time with each other.

Monami blushed remembering all this and suddenly her eyes fell upon the wall clock. "8 bajne wale hai, ye abhi tak uthe kyu nahi. Bechara Karan, akele utha raha hai shaitaano ko" , she hurried towards the kid's room.
She opened the door and was shocked at the scene infront of her.
