Wednesday entered her dorm room with haste. She rummaged through the things in her closet looking for whatever she might be needing later in the night. Fortunately for her, she wouldn't have to worry about sneaking out of the school. Her mother was waiting for her at the entrance.

Something was off, she could sense it.

She was aware of Enid's presence in the room, but so far, the girl hadn't made an effort to communicate with her as she usually did, and there was no loud music or otherwise obnoxious sounds.

Sparing a glance towards the other side of the room confirmed her suspicions. Enid was aimlessly looking through what appeared to be brochures with a disinterested gaze.

There was something clearly wrong about all this.

"What is it?" Wednesday's voice was the one to cut through the silence, driven by her curiosity and possible opportunity to offer her help in plotting someone's demise.

"I'm a disappointment" Enid sighed, "Mum's trying to send me to werewolf camp."

"Do you want to go?" Wednesday could infer that Enid wasn't thrilled about the idea, but she felt the need to clarify, just in case. After all, she knew how distraught her roommate was about not wolfing out yet.

"Of course not" Enid said, clenching her fist around one of the pamphlets and sitting upright.

"Like, I. GET. IT. "Enid huffed, "I haven't wolfed out yet. And, by Artemis, I'm trying my best. But I don't want to be forced into it, y'know? I want to do it in my own time"

Normally, hearing someone's despair was a pleasant experience. But hearing it from her roommate's own voice made an uncomfortable weight settle at Wednesday's stomach, a feeling she didn't find pleasant in the slightest.

Wednesday looked at the other girl, and contemplated how endangered her life would be if she were to try and take Enid's mother on her own. She supposed it would be an even fight as long as it wasn't a full moon. And she could always ask her parents for some extra silver, should she need it. But Enid wouldn't like the idea, and that thought made her stop in her scheming.

"Then you shouldn't go" Wednesday says, settling for speaking her mind in hopes of providing some form of comfort, "it shouldn't matter how long it takes you to wolf out, or if you wolf out at all. You are a magnificent murderous threat just as you are."

"I- thanks?" Enid said, confused at the sudden compliment.

Wednesday gave an imperceptible nod. One Enid had learned to read after living together for a little while. The werewolf knew that any acknowledgment of her roommie being nice would be met with outright denial or threats to her wellbeing. She decided to change the topic instead.

"What's the shovel for?" Enid asked, eyeing the backpack that Wednesday had packed, and dreading the answer she was about to get.

"Mother and I are going grave digging. I'm certain it will help us prove my father's innocence and release him from his imprisonment" Wednesday adjusted the straps on her shoulders as she said this.

"Oh, right, that makes sense" Really, Enid found it amusing how it didn't surprise her at all.

Wednesday made her way to the door, but stopped for a second. She turned around to face Enid.

"Would you like to come? It may distract you from your current predicament"

Enid was shocked at the almost comforting tone in Wednesday's voice.

"No, thanks, I'll just rip these flyers to shreds and stream the new LOONA mv"

Wednesday stared at the other girl, unmoving. For a moment Enid thought she had offended the other girl by declining the invitation, but she found herself staring right back and realizing that Wednesday's eyes were searching for something. For what, she couldn't possibly know.

"Have fun at the graveyard!" Enid smiled, and that gesture seemed to be enough for the gloomy girl watching her.

Wednesday gave another nod, and left the room.

While on the way to the cemetery, her mother wouldn't keep quiet.

"My little vermin, what took you so long? Did anyone intercept you on your way down?"

"No, mother" Wednesday knew the simple answer wouldn't be enough, "Enid was distraught"

"How so?" Her mother's concern felt very much like being stabbed. Cold and shocking at first, followed by a heat spreading through her body. "Does she need us to dig another grave? You know we carry an extra tombstone in the trunk"

"It won't be necessary" Although it was reassuring to know that her mother would be willing to help, should the need arise, "Her troubles are more... manageable through open communication, I suppose. Her mother suggested she considered lycanthropy camps for the summer, given her current situation."

Morticia frowned.

"You know, I've always found that one's murderous talents are best when not rushed. After all, a storm hits better when it has the time to gather every dark cloud in the sky"

"Yes mother, I told her as much."

Wednesday kept thinking about Enid, and how the sudden change in her mood pulled at her heartstrings in a way that she wasn't able to understand. Had she not other concerns at the moment, she might ponder on what it meant for her.

She noticed her mother was looking at her with an unreadable expression, like she was realizing something just now.

"What is it?"

"Oh, nothing" Morticia said, "You'll come to see it on your own time."

And before Wednesday could question her any further, the car stopped. It was time to dig.

Her father was a free man again. And, as much as it pained her to admit, talking to her mother had eased out some of Wednesday's concerns about her time at Nevermore.

She was standing outside the school entrance, in the middle of saying goodbye to her family, when a weight crashed into her from the back. Had she not recognized the voice that was excitedly calling her name, she would have reached for one of her daggers by now. Instead, she felt herself being turned around by a pair of arms that were far stronger than they looked.

Her gaze fell upon her roommate's blonde hair and the brightest fanged smiled she had seen. In the sunlight, it was almost blinding.

"I did it! Wednesday, I did it!" The werewolf excitedly said while jumping up and down. Finally distancing herself from Wednesday.

"I told my mom that I'm not going to conversion therapy camp. It was sooo terrifying, but pretty awesome"

Wednesday tried to contain her smile, but she felt it tugging at her lips just a little. And the look on Enid's face let her know that she had seen it too.

Her mother's piercing gaze reminded her of their audience. She turned around, scowl back in place.

"Well, my little terror, we must be gone now," Morticia waved at her, then turned to the blonde menace that was standing beside her now, "And Enid, our family would love to have you, should you ever wish to visit" she sent a look to Wednesday, again, like she knew something, and left.

"Thank you, Mrs. Addams!" Enid excitedly waved at the retreating vehicle.

Once her family was out of sight, she felt the strong grip of her roommate, pulling her towards the school.

"Now, let's go back to our room" Enid said, still smiling, "I need to fill you in on all the details"

A torture, Wednesday thought, but a torture that she found herself looking forward to.
