After the Addams left. They had a moment of peace.
Enid insisted on checking Wednesday's shoulder, to which the other girl readily obliged. She wasn't flinching or backing away from the werewolf's touch, not like she'd done in the past.
Enid had noticed.
Since the night before, the invisible wall Wednesday put between herself and the world seemed to have banished, at least when it came to the two of them. They hadn't left their room yet, so she had no way of knowing if it was only with her, or if Wednesday's brush with death had made her reconsider some things.
Unlikely, considering who her roomie was. But still, Enid wondered.
She found her answer later in the day. The two of them had ventured out to look for something to eat. Enid made no comment about how they were walking closer to each other, their shoulders touching every now and then.
A few of their classmates tried to approach them. Well, to be perfectly clear, they tried to approach Wednesday. It was an amusing thing for Enid to witness how the girl could stop someone with one murderous look. People stopped a few feet away from them to thank her, and received only a nod in return.
So, it wasn't like Wednesday was letting everyone in now. Just Enid.

Just as they had finished eating, ready to make their way back to the dorm, Bianca intercepted them. Sheriff Galpin was looking for them both, something about taking their statements and whatnot.
Apparently, the police were interviewing everyone at school, but they were looking for them both at the Sheriff's request.
"What are we gonna tell them?" Enid asked as they made their way to the section of the school that had been taken over by the cops.
"The truth" Wednesday said.
"Okay, that's a little surprising, coming from you" Enid commented, "But I mean, I kinda had a beast fight with the sheriff's son, you don't think he'll-"
"Enid, you did nothing wrong. You saved my life." Wednesday continued walking at a steadily rising pace, "He should be the one nervous to see us, since his denial was what blinded him from what he knew to be the truth. He should apologize for not doing his job properly. What a sorry excuse of a man he-"
The softest touch, barely there, stopped Wednesday in her tracks. She looked down. Enid's hand had brushed against her own.
"Hey, thanks" Enid whispered. "But maybe save the rant for when we're not surrounded by the entire police department?"
They had arrived, and were receiving poorly disguised looks from most of the uniformed people passing by. Wednesday noticed a few of them standing guard outside one of the classrooms. A nevermore student walked out the door, with Galpin shortly after them. He leaned on the doorframe, shoulders heavy with fatigue.
"Right" she turned to Enid, "Tell him the truth, you have nothing to fear." And if Galpin tried to pin anything on her, Wednesday would make sure he reconsidered.
They exchanged a nod and walked in unison towards Galpin. As soon as he saw them approach, his posture straightened. Wednesday walked past him and into the room without a word. Enid tried going in after her, but she was stopped by an arm blocking the way.
"One at a time, sorry" Galpin said, "wait for your turn"
Begrudgingly, Enid found a bench to sit. Not too far away, she kept an eye on the door in case Wednesday needed help.
She took a deep breath; she'd seen the way Galpin had looked at her just now. It was the same look most people had after they underestimated her. Like they couldn't believe someone like her was capable of, well, anything really.
