The thought kept ringing through Kaira's head on repeat, as she stiffened from the pain it caused. The pain he was causing her.
Kaira struggled to keep her mind together as she wondered, how did she manage to get caught up in this mess.
It didn't took a genius to figure out. Though, it did took a genius to put her where she is today.
That genius being her brother.
Between the siblings Krishav and Kaira, there existed an unbreakable bond. However, Krishav's obsessive passion towards finding life on another planet caused tensions in the little family. Despite the warnings and concerns of his loved ones, he pushed ahead with his research on space travel. After discovering a possible way to travel light years away, he decided to risk his own life and test the portal in order to find that life-form.
Her brother, her only family.
Krishav had discovered possible hints of life on another planet through using a space telescope that can detect life on another planet.
The telescope detected presence of carbon dioxide, methane and most importantly, presence of dimethyl sulfide. [ Which is something only produced by algae ].
All these factors, led him to the conclusion of having possible life on the newly discovered planet.
He was so keen on finding life there, that he send radio signals towards the planet, which was 25 light years away and waited.
Just waited for years in hopes of getting a single reply to his message.
Until one day, he did.
With the end of his patience, began the impatience of a greedy scientist.
He decided on testing the portal by risking his own life. He planned to do that on the night itself.
But, evidently enough. Things didn't go as they were planned cause the next he knew,
His sister's teary eyes were, last of what he remembers as he watched her being swallowed.
But
He did tried.
He tried his best to somehow stop the portal from working, but could only watch it swallow his sister. His only family and could not even follow her because the second she got in. It disappeared.
The portal disappeared.
He had to repeat that in his mind.
The portal disappeared but it disappeared with his sister.
