Surprise!

Chapter 6

Reba stayed at her parents house that night, her and Narvel felt that it was best to sort everything out in the morning.

The next morning she woke up smiling, even though she was scared. She know it was all going to work out.She slid her hand down to her belly and rubbed it softly. There was a knock at the door "Reba I brought you breakfast." Her mama said through the door. "Come on in mama."Reba yawned and stretched, Jackie walked in with a big tray of food.

"Hi Mama." She smiled sitting up. "Hey Red." Jackie said laughing at Reba's bed head. "Thanks for breakfast." Reba smiled. "You need to eat." Jackie replied, Reba nodded and she started to eat. She rubbed her belly and Jackie was staring at it.

"How far along did you say you were?" Jackie asked. "I'm three months." Reba said. "May I ask another question?" "What's up?" She replied. "How are you not scared?" Jackie asked "I am terrified." Reba admitted. "But you act so calm." Jackie told her. "I love Narvel, I know it's all going to work out in the end." Reba explained. "But are you positive he's going to stay?" Her mother questioned. Reba nodded her head and smiled "What's with the smile?" Jackie asked. "I know that's it's going to be okay." She said. Jackie nodded "We're all still trying to put it together." "What do you mean?" Reba asked. "Me, daddy, you're sisters and brother are all shocked." Jackie explained. "Yeah, we wanted to wait until he had our first doctors appointment to make sure everything was okay before we told." She took Jackies hand and put on her very small baby bump. "Narvel and I are in stock too." She told her. Jackie took her hand off of her stomach "Sorry darlin I'm just not comfortable with this yet." Reba nodded her head and understood her mothers point of view.

"Is it okay if Alice and Susie come up? They want to see you." Jackie told her "Of course." She said. Jackie nodded "We didn't tell them what was going on, they've been asking." "Are they here?" She asked. "Yea, they're downstairs eating." Jackie replied.

"Should we tell them now?" Reba questioned."Not 'we', I'm sending them up here for 'you' to tell them." Jackie told her. "Can you stay with me?" She asked scared of her siblings reaction. "No, you got into this and I'm not always going to be here." Jackie told her. "Mama please." She begged. "Reba you're the one that's pregnant." Jackie told her. "I know." She said getting up "Lay back down, I'm sending them up here." Jackie said. "You sure?" Reba asked. "Yes." Jackie said walking out, Reba waited and it have her time to let the fear sink in.

Her sisters walked in a few minutes later and sat on either side of her.

"Hey guys." She said."Hey." They each replied as they dug into her food. "Hey that's mine!" She moved it out of their reached. "Greedy." They joked. "Not technically." Reba mumbled. "Reba, what's going on? Mama and daddy won't tell us anything." Susie said. She took a deep breath and said: "How do you like the sound of being call Aunt Alice and Aunt Susie?" "Reba what are you talking about?" They asked. She put her hands over her small bump"I'm going to be a Mama." She said with tears in her eyes. "Reba be serious and stop joking, this isn't funny."
Alice scolded. "I'm pregnant." Reba said. "Oh lord." Susie cried. Reba held her hands "What's wrong?" She asked her. "Reba no!" She hugged her. Alice pulled Susie off and held her close. "So this is what mama and daddy are so torn up about?" Alice asked. "Yeah." Reba nodded her and started to cry.

Alice got tears in her eyes "You're my little sister." "And I will still be your little sister." Reba held Alice's hand. "No, you'll be married with a baby and you'll be so young and busy that you won't have time for us."
Susie sniffled as she answered for Alice. "You guys are my best friends, I know it's going to be different but I will always have time for you guys." She rubbed Susie's back.

"Is it Narvel's?" Alice asked. "Yes." She answered. "Remind me to kick him in the balls the next time I see him." Alice gritted. "ALICE!!" She said sternly. "What?!" Alice asked. "Stop it please." Reba said. "Why, he ruined your life." Alice replied "No he did not." Reba told her. "You're seventeen and pregnant. Everyone at school will laugh at you." Alice said, making Reba cry. "Alice stop!" Susie yelled.

"Look we are sisters, we stick by each other no matter what!" Susie said "I'm not watching her life go down." Alice said as she walked out and left Susie.

Susie hugged Reba "I'm happy." "Really?!" Reba asked. Susie nodded "It'll be fun." "I love you." Reba told her. "I love you too." Susie kissed her cheek.
