When you get home later we have to talk. Love you and see you soon!
"Jace, look at this. My mom wants to talk to me, I wonder what about she never texts me."
Jace shrugs his shoulders, "I don't know mama. Have any clue what it could be?"
"No, not at all."
The rest of the day passed by as I could think about what my mom could possibly have to talk to me about, so when the bell rang at 2:07 I got home as soon as I could.
Walking through the front door I shout " Ma! I'm home."
Out of the kitchen comes my mom,
"Hey sweetie, how was your day?"
"It was good. Ma is everything okay?"
"Well, yes and no. I got a promotion at work today."
My eyes light up, "That's awesome ma! Congrats! After 6 years they finally saw it in you!"
"Thanks, but there's more." She says with a shift in her tone
"What's wrong?"
"Well, with this promotion I was relocated."
"What does that mean?"
"Honey we're moving to New York"
My eyes grow wide.
"NOW? Ma, I'm almost done with high school. What about Jace? And Evelyn? And what about dance?"
"Honey, this isn't easy for me either but you can keep in touch, we'll only be 2 trains away from here. I get a raise and the new house is gorgeous."
"If we're only 2 trains away why can't you just like, I don't know- rent an apartment and come back home on the weekends."
"Emilee Ly that is not an option. Boston is a 4 hour ride. Not happening. Your beautiful and smart and I'm sure everyone will love you. As far as Jace goes, he can visit- it'll make your relationship stronger."
"Ma. I'll be going into high school, everyone has their friends already. And that's too far from Jace."
"Emilee enough. End of discussion

"Can you believe it?" I say to my best friend Evelyn.
"No I can't. I mean I'm upset, just as much as you are, but your mom has an awesome opportunity and you should really try to be happy for her."
" I am, but it's hard. My whole life is here. I don't know man."
