It was a early spring morning.

Sizzling was heard in the kitchen.

The sweet smell of breakfast filled the young boy's nostrils as he woke up from his slumber.

Yawning and stretching, he walked into the bathroom to quickly brush his teeth and rinse off his face.

Once he was done, he walked downstairs only to be greeted by his big sister, who was already ready for the day.

"Good morning Luka. I'm glad you woke up on time." His big sister said, grinning at the 11 year old.

"Morning (Y/n)." Luka said, giving a quick thank you as she handed him his plate.

Quickly making her own plate, she sat down with Luka and began to eat.

"You did all of your homework right?" (Y/n) asked.

He nodded, continuing to eat.

(Y/n) smiled, proud of her little brother for being responsible.

"Crap, Luka we gotta hurry. I don't want you to be late, and I have to rush to work." (Y/n) panicked, getting up from her chair and grabbing her keys.

Luka sighed, grabbing his backpack and following behind her.

The drive to school was silent, neither of them having anything to say at the moment.

Luka was use to the scenery around him.

They passed by the same things everyday.

But in a way, it wasn't the same.

Arriving at the school, (Y/n) unlocked the car so Luka could get out.

"Make sure you behave alright? I'll be here to pick you up at 2:30." (Y/n) said, waving goodbye to her little brother.

He waved back and headed towards the entrance of the building.

(Y/n) sighed heavily.

First task of the day: done.

Now it was time for her to get to work.

(Y/n) was lucky enough to get a job at the local diner, tips being very generous.

She made just enough to live off of, knowing she had to take care of her little brother as well.

Although she was only 21, she was still proud of what she's been capable of doing.

Eventually she made it to the diner.

"Morning (Y/n)!" her coworker cheered.

"Morning Opal!" (Y/n) said back, quickly putting her things down in her locker.

"How's Luka doing?" Opal asked, looking concerned.

(Y/n) shrugged sighing a little.

"He's coping, but he's doing alright." (Y/n) responded with a little smile.

"And how are you doing?" Opal then asked.
