Thousands of lights lit up Mi-rae's face all at once, like New York city once the sun went down.
Like the city that never sleeps, her eyes met blank stares, full of love and hate.
She did not deserve to be up on stage. Not after what she did, who she hurt.
She knew that.
She was scared and alone.
Scanning the room, she saw a familiar face looking up at her with an unreadable expression.
He hates me, is all she could think. I would hate myself, too after what I did to all of them.
But she locks eyes with the person she would rather die than see.
