And with those simple words, Keith made his decision. "Keith, come away from the ledge.. Please." Lance spoke softly. Keith took one more look over the ledge and stepped off back onto the road. Lance ran up to him, hugging him tightly. "I'm so, so sorry," Lance whispered into his neck. "Lance..." Keith whispered back, "it's okay."
The two made their way home, stopping for takeout and ice cream. "Let's watch a movie when we get back, yeah?" Lance asked, swiping his credit card to pay for their food. "Yes! Lets watch Princess Bride," Keith snickered. Lance rolled his eyes playfully, "If it makes you happy, babe."
Holding hands all the way home, Lance swore to himself (and Keith) that nothing like this would ever happen again. He would not cheat, he would not lie, and he would not leave Keith like that again.
At home, after dinner and a movie, the couple lie in bed, just cuddling. Lance heard a very soft "You love me, right?" from Keith. His heart hurt, "Yes," he replied just as soft, "I'll love you forever," Keith smiled, drifting of to sleep.
Knowing he was loved, even after everything that happened, was all he needed.
He will heal, it might take some time, and it won't be a straight road, but that's how recovery works.
