Ren's POV…

“Thanks for having breakfast with your dear old mom, sweetie.”

“You're nowhere near old, mom.”

“tell that to these knees of mine." She laughingly says to me. "Why didn't Hina join us this morning?”

“She had some important business to attend to today,” I lied. She was mad at me. For what I have no idea. All I know is that she's been that way ever since Hiroto dropped her off at home last night. The only way I knew she was angry with me was when she walked into my office with a scowl on her face and yelling at me this morning while I was on a conference call with Yuko and Ms. Davenport.

“Is everything alright between you and Hina?” Mom asked me before sipping on her cup of coffee.

“We're doing great.” I lied again. I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong in our marriage to cause her to be angry with me lately.

"You don't sound to sure about that, son."

"We're doing fine, mom." I replied then stuffed a piece of sausage into my mouth.

“How are things going with finding a surrogate? to help you guys give me a beautiful grand baby? Do you need me to help you find a good candiate? I'm ready to spoil my grandbaby then give him or her back to you and Hina when I done.”

“We've already found the perfect candidate, mom.”

“That's good to hear son.Was Hina involved in choosing the woman who will be an important part of you guy's life for almost a year?”

“Yeah, she was the one who thought that Ms. Lambent is the perfect candidate.” I replied sipping on my cup of hot chocolate.

“I'm glad to hear that she was a part of the process that will change you guys' life forever. when you I first told me about you two taking the surrogacy route, I thought that she was going to do what she always done."

"And what has she always done Mom?"

"leave you to do everything in your marriage as if she's not a part of it.”

“Mom… don't start.”

“Don't start what? You know what I'm saying is true, son. Ever since you two have been together, she has always expected you to make this relationship work on your own without her putting in little to no effort at all.”

“Why aren't Yoshida and Kenji joining us for breakfast this morning?” I asked, hoping to change the subject. I wasn't about to sit here and listen to my wife being bashed, not even by my own mother.
