"Me, a contestant? Fighting for humanity?"

Brunhilde peered at you through her green viridescent eyes. Her face held a look of something along the line of daring as her eyes burned with determination. She held her hand out towards you, contently and carefully watching your face and fluent body movements.

"Do you accept?"

You glanced down at her hand with hesitance. Letting out a defeated sigh you place your hands into hers.

"I accept."

———

You didn't know how you ended up in this situation. That last thing you clearly remembered was refusing the woman's strange offer for you to fight for humanity. But she wanted it her way. So she simply knocked you out. But after you first  woke up, you finally agreed to the terms due to the woman's pressure.

You let out a sigh, putting the cold palms of your hands against your cheeks. You had come to learn the woman's name. Brunhilde. You found that name strange, but nonetheless, liked it. Seated in a cushioned chair, your eyes scan over your surroundings.

Brunhilde stood on the other side of the room, with a huge digital screen displayed right in front of her. Concentration evident on her face. You leaned back, not knowing how to feel.

"So." You spoke up, catching the other woman's attention. "Why am I here?"

"I thought you knew already." Brunhilde simply replied, swiping the digital screen in slight frustration. You frowned, shrugging your shoulders.

"Well i don't know too much. I mean, the only thing you told me was that I was going to fight for humanity. And I think I deserve to know all the details and expectations because you technically did kidnap me." You huffed, folding your arms. Brunhilde closed the digital screen before facing you.

"You're here because you contain powerful magic." Brunhilde spoke, watching as your eyes widen.

"H-how did you know?" You quickly asked, stammering, trying to keep your composure, "I haven't told anybody."

Brunhilde pointed a finger to her temple, eyeing you.

"Because you are the reincarnation of one of the greatest warriors of all time." She bluntly replied.

Shock ripples inside of you once those words left her lips. You stood up from the cushioned seat before raising a brow.

"How do I know you're not just making this up?" You questioned, "and how would you know?"

Brunhilde just let out a sigh. She walked back over to her digital screen, opening it up. On the green digital screen, a beautiful woman in white and silver armor appeared with a large spear in her hands.

It was you.

Your breath inaudibly hitched as you walked to Brunhilde's side, your eyes not leaving the woman. Brunhilde watched your movements before opening her mouth.

"She or technically you were an amazing warrior." Brunhilde spoke, "She was a fearless warrior who would do anything in her power to bring justice and peace."

She paused. Silence took over the room.

"But over a thousand years ago," Brunhilde's voice slightly breaks, "She and her elite team were defeated."

You turned to face Brunhilde, who's face was grim.

"Did you know her- or erm... past me?" You nervously asked, "Cause' it sounds like you personally knew her."

Brunhilde simply nodded. The look on her face told you not to question further.

"Before she died, she casted a spell..." Brunhilde trailed off, "... a spell that would curse her for the rest of eternity."

"What was the curse?" You asked, subconsciously leaning forward, your interest peaked. Brunhilde just shook her head, not wanting to continue this topic further.

"You're here to help fight for humanity." She spoke quietly, tapping her fingers against the table.

"What? What's going to happen to humanity?" You asked, furrowing your eyebrows.

"The gods are trying to eliminate humanity."

"What?"

The news shook you. The gods? Eliminate humanity? You thought gods were there to help guide humanity, not destroy it. You gently bit your lip, your eyes darting up.

"In what way will I fight for humanity? What's my purpose?" You asked. Brunhilde glanced up at you, a smile ghosting her lips.

"You will fight in one of the thirteen rounds. But in the meantime, we'll train your powers and you will help me with other things." Brunhilde listed, informing you. You nodded to her words, although you felt uneasy.

"Wait if you mean by fight... do I have to fight a god?" You nervously asked.

"That's what fight means in this situation." Brunhilde promptly replied. You felt yourself shake. But a warm and comforting hand was placed on your shoulder.

"We're going to make sure you win and survive. That's my job." Brunhilde reassuringly spoke, her voice softening. You smiled.

"When will I start my training?"

Brunhilde pulled away and thought for a moment.

"You'll start next week." She spoke, "Once I have all of the contestants- or at least a majority, they'll train and help you in different areas. While I-" Brunhilde pointed to herself. "... will help you with your magic."

You nodded.

Brunhilde peered at you, frowning somewhat sadly. 'She really has no memory of her past life but... that should be expected. She has been "asleep" for a thousand years. Yet, it still makes me feel strange...' Brunhilde thought, facing away from you.

"Brunhilde...?" Your soft voice snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Yes Y/n?" Brunhilde answered after a moment of silence. You smiled awkwardly with your eyes shut closed as your face heated up in embarrassment. You pointed to your stomach.

"I'm hungry."
