After his marriage to Isobel. a fellow police officer imploded. Tim was set on never feeling that deep hurt ever again. Especially knowing he would never become involved with a cop, he had long since learned from that heartbreak. Until when he couldn't stick to that promise anymore. Lucy Chen had changed his whole perspective. He had been fighting his feelings for a long time. It had evolved over the few years she had been in his life.

Finally, after the denial. Both Tim and Lucy were letting their feelings for each other out. She knew breaking up with Chris was imminent. She didn't love him. How could she, when she was in love with someone else? Lucy was scared to cross that line. She could not lose the most important relationship in her life. All, Tim needed to do was utter three words.
"Unless it is"
Lucy broke up with Chris. Not long after, Tim asked her out on a real date.

They had made a date for a couple of nights from now as they would have a couple days off. They were both feeling anxious but also excited. The anticipation was all either of them could think about. They went along with work and routines as normal. Trying to focus and not letting the fear of the next step consume them. As much as they both have wanted this for a long time, it was also scary to take this plunge.

Aaron and Tim were on patrol together. Started as a normal day. Until it wasn't. Next thing they knew, there was their shop hanging off a bridge. Teetering on the edge. One false move and the shop would tumble off the bridge. It was surreal for the two officers. Aaron felt numb, thinking about everything he still wanted to accomplish in life. Trying to remain calm and not wanting to make any sudden movements. Superior officer Bradford was encouraging him and keeping the situation positive. Panic was only going to make everything worse.

Tim was also in his thoughts. He was remaining calm but he also was thinking about everything that could be stripped away. Angela, his best friend and being a godfather to little Jack and watching him grow up. His sister Genny and his nephews. After her divorce, he had family in LA and imagined family dinners and closeness he was going to miss out on. What was really eating away at him? After so long, he was so close to having his happy ending with Lucy who...screw it, he wasn't denying it anymore. She was the absolute love of his life. Timing was finally on their side. They could finally be together, fully be together. Wake up next to each other for the rest of their lives. Suddenly, the 'risks' that had plagued him for so long meant nothing anymore. He vowed WHEN they got out of this harrowing situation. He was taking HIS GIRL on their date and going to start his forever with her. There was going to be no care about consequences or repercussions. As far as he was concerned, She was WORTH IT.

Lucy who had been on patrol solo, had heard the call on the radio. She arrived at the scene quickly feeling terrified. The man she was madly in love with was trapped. His life was in jeopardy and she couldn't do a thing about it. She felt completely helpless. All Lucy wanted to do was hold him in her arms. She smiled and thought 'for the rest of their lives'. She stood beside Angela while time felt like it was standing still.

Fire Rescue, which included Nolan's fiance Bailey, were able to stabilize their shop long enough for Tim and Aaron to be pulled to safety. Aaron gave Tim a sympathetic look and walked over to the rest of the Wilshire family. Lucy was relieved seeing Aaron. She cared for him since he arrived and they had even become friends. Aaron definitely knew who she really loved, even went as far as to help her rehearse her break up with Chris. Lucy was searching for Tim. Where was he? She knew she couldn't express the love she wanted to for him while on duty in front of everyone. Seeing him safe would be good enough for now. Until, they had some time alone.

Tim started walking towards his Wilshire family. He stopped, standing just feet from Lucy.
"CHEN, Get over here please"
Confused. Lucy obeyed his orders.
As she stood in front of him. To her complete shock. Tim wrapped his arms around her and embraced her in a tight bear hug. Lucy had never been happier in that moment, Although, still quite shocked. Mr. rule follower was publicly hugging her.
"Tim, Are you OK? Your showing me affection in front of everyone, including Grey"
"Lucy, I don't care. I don't want another second to pass by without holding you in my arms. Something I have wanted for so long. I didn't know If I was going to be able have this moment a few minutes ago. It has become very apparent to me. I don't give a shit about any consequences . So, just be quiet and let me hold you"
Lucy was elated. It felt like a dream coming to life, a dream she never wanted to wake up from.
"I was so scared Tim, I don't ever want to feel that way again"
"Lucy, by the way I have made an executive decision. I'm not waiting. We are going on our date TONIGHT. I wanted to plan the perfect date for you, but it just doesn't matter. As long as you're with me and I can look into those beautiful brown eyes of yours. The 'where' means nothing...It will be PERFECT"
"Bradford, you have turned into a complete softie"
"Shhh...I'm only that way with you. I have a reputation to uphold. But with you, I am without a doubt...soft as mush"

Later they went to dinner. A wonderful vegetarian restaurant. As far as Tim was concerned, he may of not been a fan but Lucy was and if she liked it, he did too. The events of the day were ignored. They just wanted to enjoy one another and really begin this new journey together. Tim looked nervous as he paid the bill. Lucy knew him so well, she caught on to his mood almost immediately. The date was perfect. Completely comfortable which was surprising given the build up to this new relationship. Nerves were expected, with crossing over from friends and co-workers into a romantic relationship. But it felt right...So, Lucy was confused as to why Tim looked so flustered.
"Bradford, Are you OK? You seem uncomfortable"
"NOO, Luc I'm not. I'm just not wanting to ruin anything. I know it's only a first date. We should go slow. We have waited for so long for this and I just want it to be right and perfect. But, all I want is for you to come home with me, watch a movie and cuddle all night long. With that said, I don't want you to think this invitation would be for sex. I know we will get there, I just want you in my arms"
"Tim. Relax. That sounds like your best plan yet. Perfect, actually"

At Tim's house, Lucy was cuddling with Kojo. Tim brought her a glass of wine while he had set a beer down on the table. He pushed Kojo onto the floor and settled in right beside his girl. Nothing had ever felt so right. This was his forever.
As Lucy was curled up next to him with her head buried in his chest. Fingers intertwined.
"Tim, I just wanted to tell you how happy you make me. I feel safe with you. I never want to let you go. You're my person and I don't want this to ever end. Going slow is the 'safe' way to go but we are way past being safe. I'm all in. Don't question how 'US' happens, because as far as I'm concerned 'US' together is where I want to be."
"Luc, I am so in love with you"
Any remaining walls he had now, had come crumbling down.
"I feel the same. I know I'm a rule follower and am always cautious but that's over, because this, YOU AND I. This risk is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. You will be WORTH IT TO ME FOREVER. I Love You Baby"
Lucy's heart literally melted in that one moment.
"I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, My beautiful man"

They both fell asleep in each others arms.
