Lo'ak will be perceived as 17 years old, as will the fem reader. Translations at the end of the chapter.

When the Sully family had traveled out to the water tribe for a safe place to hide from the sky people, you were frustrated. How could a fellow tribe come and wreak havoc upon a community. It wasn't fair, if the sky people wanted Jake Sully, no innocent members of the Meykainia clan should have to suffer in the process. Despite your harsh feelings towards the situation, your father Tonowari had demanded you teach the forest people the clans ways. Each one of your siblings were assigned one of the Sully kids to teach. You, unfortunately we're assigned a cocky and egotistical boy who thought he could do anything. Lo'ak was his name.

"Lo'ak!", You yelled, walking into Lo'aks Marui pod. His eyes shot open, anger flooding his face as he saw it was you waking him. The feelings between the two of you were mutual. "It's time to go out to the water. We must hunt." You said, looking down at him with a disgusted look on your face. You truly didn't like him. You knew maybe if you gave him a chance, you could grow to like him. Deep, deep, deep down you could like him. But you chose not to. "It's too early. We won't catch anything." He muttered, resting his head back down against his arms. Walking up to him, you jabbed his side with your butt of your stake. "You know nothing of what and when we will catch, forest boy, now get up." You demanded a with a harsh tone, making him grunt. He slowly pulled himself up, rubbing his hands over his face. "Tslolam boy, omum ke'u of Meykainia ways." You muttered ever so lightly under your breath before turning to leave the pod. "Moe omum tutee also plltxe Na'vi?" Lo'ak remarked slyly. You shook your head, ignoring him before walking out.

You walked over to the pod you and your sister shared, getting Lo'ak a weapon. There was a feast tonight to celebrate the sacred Tulkuns coming home. Tsierya was sitting on her mat, sharpening a sphere. "Sa'nu, you must be kind to the Sully family. They are Meykainia guests." She stated bluntly, lifting her self up and standing to face you. "They are no guests. They are intruders." You quickly argued, slightly raising your voice. "They are dangerous. Ignorant. Stupid. I will not accept any of them. Not now, not ever." Tsireya remained silent, her eyes staring at her feet instead of your face. You didn't want to be rude to your sister, but you also didn't want her to think you were even close to liking them. "Do you understand? These people are dooming the Meykainia. Jake Sully will be brought down and we will go down with him. No matter how hard or how long we thrash and fight to climb back up, we will drown in our own water. Please, listen to me. Trust me." Your voice softened as you looked down at your sister, placing your hand on her shoulder. Tsireya had always looked up to you, but when you were so harsh to the Sully's she felt as if she didn't know you. You never wanted her to feel like that. She nodded, walking away from you and sitting back down at her mat. You walk over to the stack of stakes, grabbing a sharpened one for Lo'ak. "Sister, I'm sorry." You whispered lightly before walking out of the pod. As you stepped down onto the bridge you bent your knees, gracefully running your fingers through the water as you walked. Lo'ak was standing at the crossway of the bridge. He looked upset, almost hurt. An unwanted and unexpected pool of guilt rested in your chest as you realized he easily could have heard you. You didn't recognize why you felt remorse for what you had said. You knew that's how you felt, but maybe that's not how you wanted to feel. He looked up from his feet, his ears hanging low against his head. He had one of his arms against his chest, holding onto the elbow of his other. His eyes looked dark and sincere as you looked at him. "Ready?" You questioned, keeping your chin high. He nodded as you walked in front of him. "Follow." You demanded, trying to hide what you were feeling. He obliged, walking close behind you as you headed towards the water. "Have you been taught to dive yet?" You asked, hesitant. Sky people's language was hard for you, but since you had to talk to the Sully's who mainly spoke it, you had to learn. "I'm pretty sure I can dive into the water." He remarked annoyingly. You rolled your eyes as you lined your feet up with the edge of the wood of the bridge. You straighten your body and lift your arms above your head, putting your hands against each other. You lifted yourself off, pushing off and gracefully diving into the water. You swam out a bit, your fin like arms and legs working like a charm. After getting far enough away from the bridge, you let your head above water, looking up at Lo'ak. He stayed there, looking almost mesmerised. "Forest boy?! Your turn!" You yelled out in order for him to hear you. He nodded looking as if he was snapped back into reality. You watched him as he followed your movements, lining his feet up to the edge and straightening himself out. You could see multiple flaws in his stance, he was pointing his toes out instead of straight, his hips were twisted slightly, and his hands weren't against each other when he reached them above his head. You remained silent, watching as he jumped up. He bent his knees instead of keeping them straight, making him belly flop harshly against the water. You could hear the pain he was feeling the moment his skin slapped against the water. He fought himself to get to the surface of the water before finally reaching his head above water. "Fuck!" He yelled loudly, gripping his stomach in pain as he sank more into the water with every movement. "Watch your mouth young man." You heard Jake yell as he walked by the bridge with your father. Jake looked embarrassed as he watched his son fight water. "Yes sir." Lo'ak managed to talk through his struggles. Jake looked at Tonowari before they started walking away. You covered your mouth, hiding a small laugh from Lo'ak. You slowly swam to him, grabbing his arm and wrapping your other arm around his waist to hold his body up. Lo'ak seemed to tense more as you touched him. "Breath forest boy." You whispered as you struggled to hold him up. You could feel his heart racing as you touched him. "I said breathe, not hyperventilate" You remarked, rolling your eyes. He let out a scoff, taking in deeper breaths. "I thought you said you could dive?" You teased as you let your grip on him go. He adjusted to the water after your grasp around him was released and he started swimming out to the even deeper water. He didn't reply, he just started swimming. You followed him, swimming under the water. You kept your eyes on him, your body colliding with the creatures around you. He went back above water, taking a deep breath before going back under. Before he could get far, you stoped him, grabbing his arm to get his attention. You went under him, then turned to face him. You moved your hands, speaking with them to say "Take deep breaths, be one with the water." He looked down at you in confusion, shrugging his shoulders before popping his head above the water. You mimicked him, putting your head above the surface of the water as well. "I don't know what your sign language means sk'awng.". You stayed silent, ignoring his remark before diving back down into the water.
