Inroduction

This process covers the art of drafting. Many element for structure steel detailer for practice discussed Here. Initially D05 Design and Engineering want drafting equipment, and so many techniques are required for the practical work of different kinds of work, like lettering, dimensions, symbols, line thickness, breaking lines, provision of match lines, scaling details, indication of bolts and bolt lines, indication of welding, orthographic projections, elevation and section arrows and finally abbreviations.

Equipment

In all the workshops detailed drawings are made on plastic drafting film or tracing paper with pencils. For this drawing we take a print or a dye-line print sometimes, drawings prepared by ink on drafting film, so that it can b there for a long time. In structural steelwork, detailer equipment requires as follows

(a) drawing board, furnished with a separate T-square,

(b) drawing paper or film

(c) pencils

(d ) pencil sharpener

(e) pens, supplied in point diameters (F) protractor

(f) compasses

(g) circle template

(h) eraser and shield

(l) french curves

(j) calculator —the Necessary aid in the summing of dimensions is a scientific electronic calculator, for calculate the bevel dimensions & bracing end clearances, and the calculation of steelwork masses on quantity lists.

(k) computers — So many fabricators are using various computer-aided drawing (CAD) programs to assist in the preparation of 18 layout and detail drawings. This is aspecialized technique, but results in significant time savings on larger contracts

Lettering and dimensions

there is No particular way recommended for lettering but for decent copy prints a number of practices have indicated. For drawing titles stencils we always used them for view. A number of different lettering schemes and symbols are produced by computer-aided machines. every time The main quality requires the clarity and uniformity of all symbols. The minimum size of the lettering in the UK and the USA is 2·5 mm and 3 mm respectively. All notes, letters, dimensions, and arrowheads used on plans, elevations, sketches, and erection drawings are either computer generated or free drawing . For storage purposes, sometimes the drawing should be microfilmed. and after that when it is printed then the size of the drawing will do enlarged so that print can be taken. sometimes when the drawing is enlarged the scale of the original size is lost. for this reason provides on the original drawing a scale at a bottom edge. in this arrowheads are should be sharply pointed and touchable on line Dimension lines should be dark, thin but unbroken lines.
