The boiling isles is a weird place.

For one thing, the scenery was fucking weird. Sure Tommy's been around it for long enough for the creepiness to ware off. The eyeball bushes never get old though. In his defence, he's not lived here all his life, well he has but it's kinda complicated.  There is some really cool people though, such a variety of people. Everyone's different. Everyone has a different coven, or a different style of magic, or a different palisman. A Palismen, Tommy has found, can tell you a lot about a person. For example, his classmate Fundy has a Fox Palismen. And Fundy is quite foxlike in his mannerisms and personality. But maybe he's just good at reading people, he does have an oracle friend, maybe it's just oracle osmosis or something. Tommy isn't sure.

Tommy has seen pretty much everything, there has even been the occasional rebel trying to convince people to be anti emperor. He always tries to make sure they know that Tommy isn't exactly keen on the emperor either.

But I guess he hasn't seen it all, because when he's faced with an actual full rebel group he can't help but be extremely taken aback by it.

That momentary surprise is all it takes for him to be swept into the demonstration. The first thing he noticed was the sweet siren song of a guitar. He doesn't know any of that type of magic but that's clearly a bard judging by how many people are being drawn towards the source of the enchanting sounds. He's just walking that way out of his own curiosity (and free will he would add) to see a group of masked men.

The bard was a tall, slim man. A brunette with many white streaks with a plague doctor mask covering his face, playing a black acoustic guitar, similar to the long flowing jacket that seemed to be a void of darkness. He also, in Tommys obviously correct opinion, looks cool, if a little bit stuck up.

Next to him was a more muscular man, wearing a scull like mask, what animal it was Tommy couldn't tell. Framing the mask was a cascade of bubblegum pink hair, tied back into a somewhat loose french braid. Now this guy definitely looked stuck up. He was wearing royal looking robes! And a crown too!

Behind the two of them was another man, if you could even call him that. He looked like a harpy! A harpy in a similar crow mask to the bard. Weird, huh? All he wore other than that mask was a similar jacket to bard-boy just in dark green and a green and white striped bucket hat.

The three of them all looked rather intimidating, nothing Tommy couldn't handle though, Tommy is a big man! The biggest man of all men! He was scared of no man and no thing, well he may be a little bit scared of one man, but that's not the point! He's not scared of these masked figures, he could play their game and he could do it better! If they really wanted to overthrow the emperor they need more than just theatrics and a fancy outfit, they need a real distraction, maybe that's what these guys are supposed to be.

As all this came together in Tommys mind, he didn't fully identify that there was infact a fight unfurling around him. It wasn't until a brick wall was nearly smashed into him that he actually realised what was happening.

Wait, he didn't do anything? How is he still alive? Before he could go to deep into these questions he's in an alleyway with the bard, the bard? Tommy thought he was supposed to be fighting. Why isn't he?

"Who the fuck are you?!" He shouts at his masked saviour.

"I think you'll find I am your saviour! You may call me Songbird, now the bigger question is are you ok? A wall nearly fell on you" He replies. Yep, definitely a stuck up fuck, he does apparently care about Tommys wellbeing though, weird.

"Thought you were supposed to be fucking up some coven guys? Not saving people who'd probably someday join a coven. What are your motives man?" He supposed he'd be bitched at more for talking back to this guy but honestly he didn't care right now, "do you want a favour or something?"

"For the record, no I am not supposed to be 'fucking up coven guys' I'm actually on crowd control if you must know. My motivations are but making sure innocents don't die if we can help it. But maybe if your asking I should ask for something..." he secretly grins under the mask, Tommy can just tell by the voice.

"I'm gonna have to stop you there boss man. I need to get home. I have a pet who needs me home sooner rather than later and quite frankly, I'd like to stay as far away from the emperors coven and therefore the emperor as is possible." He laughs nervously. "Bye"

"Completely fair. I need to get back to the fight before CrowFather kills me for just chilling over here! Cool talking to you though," Songbird agrees, "goodbye kid, stay safe."

In the blink of Tommys demonic eyes, Songbird is gone. Presumably on a building using his magic to make forcefields, why he didn't do that in this first place is beyond Tommys seemingly endless expertise.

God that was weird! Tommy has never seen an actual rebellion. It was strange. Sure there was a wild witch here or there trying to convince people to be anti emperor but they never had much luck. An actual rebel group was extremely hard to come by. What was harder to come by was one who cared about how their actions affected innocents! That's probably the most odd thing about all of this. A rebel who actually cares about more than pushing their beliefs on everyone by any means necessary. All the ones Tommy has seen that used more destructive means didn't really care about the people caught in the crossfire. There was one who was just actively hurting civilians just for being in covens with no remorse whatsoever! That guy was a prick!

It doesn't take Tommy too long to get home. It's about a half hour walk. The den is just as mediocre as ever. A creepy looking hobbit hole from the outside but inside, that's where it's at! The interior is actually weirdly nice. A bedroom as nice as a palace in Tommys incredible opinion. Clementine is curled up in her bed. She usually is though, she's a baby stonesleeper. He grabs the box of her food and pours some in her bowl before grabbing a few slices of bread and making a sandwich.

'I wonder what Songbird is gonna try and do with the "favour" I now apparently owe him.' He thinks to himself. He's still a bit weirded out that the rebels had a guy on crowd control, much less a bard! Bards are so cool and they basically sidelined the guy! 'Why'd they make a rebellion anyway? I hate the Emperor as much as the next guy but I'm not about to go fighting him with the massive risk of going to the conformatorium!'

His train of thought continues as he wonders about this rebellion 'do they have a cool rebel name for the group?' He eventually drifts off to sleep deciding they'd be fools to not have a cool rebel name.
