Hailee's P.O.VPhone call after phone call, text after text, it was like my mom was determined to figure out where I was and what I was doing. Even Noelle texted me saying how pissed off my mother was that y/n had left New York so suddenly missing multiple shoots and shows. Talking about her unprofessionalism.
This was getting out of hand. And it only made the weight on my shoulders become heavier with every bad scenario that would pop into my head. I know y/n said not to worry about it anymore, and that she would figure something out. But why did it still feel so suffocating.
But, I will say that after the talk with y/n everything seemed a little less... heavy. Even for a moment. Finally able to breath and eat in peace. Even y/n looked better than the days before. Now here we were in y/n's bedroom while we watched her favorite movie.
Well I watched the movie. Y/n had been on her laptop since she sat on her bed. I would look to see what she would be doing, but she had so many tabs open jumping though all of them like she was doing some research project. I just thought she was doing so homework. There was no way I would be able to read so many articles in one go.
"Fascinating couple." I heard y/n let out a soft laugh before clicking away on her computer.
"Who?" I asked lowering the volume on the tv. Y/n didn't bother turn from her computer, instead she leaned in just a bit further, trying to get a closer look at what she was reading.
"You and Me" she smiled turning the computer towards me. And sure enough, the tabloids were having a field day when y/n and I landed in New York together. Both of us close to each other, looking lovely at one another. "Is this what you've been doing the whole time. Reading Gossip articles" I laughed pointing at the "Hailee and Y/n love in New York" article.
Y/n only shook her head. Then moved from one tab to another.
"Just weighing my options" I said with a small sigh.
"What options?" I asked. "Are you still considering going to med school?" I didn't know if I was pushing my luck, but I wanted to know if her career choice had changed because of this situation.
It was obvious that y/n hadn't stopped thinking about my marriage proposal, and maybe some part of her came up with the solution to switch paths. I mean, what more was there to do. It seemed like the only move we could make to get out of this mess my mom created. she stopped being a celebrity and no more contract. No more marriage. No more mother. That was y/n's only get out of jail free card.
"No, nothing like that. I don't think I should give up being a musician because of someone. If I didn't do it with my parents what makes you think I'd do it with yours" she says, shaking her head.
Knock, knock, knock
We both stopped what we were doing when we heard the knocked at the door. Y/n didn't answer back, instead removed the covers off of her and walked towards her door.
I was surprised to see it was her dad, bright smile while looking a mess. Hair all over, his button up shirt was unbuttoned showing his white t underneath, and his 5 o'clock shadow was starting to darken. He really looked like an evil villain ready to show off his new weapon to take on the superhero.
Harvey, y/n's dad didn't even bother to say anything when y/n opened the door. He looked at y/n then back at me who was still on her bed.
"I wasn't" he pointed between the two of us. "Interrupting something was I?"
"No" I say jumping out of the bed.
He raised a brow, as if he didn't know whether to believe my answer, or believe we were doing something behind close doors. But at the end he just accepted the answer and smiled back at y/n.
