Kristin lay on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. She sighed sadly as she heard her brother call her name. Before she could get up, her bedroom door burst open.
"Kristin, I'm going to go hang out with Charlotte. Don't get into trouble." He stated coldly before he walked away.
A tear rolled down her cheek. "Why can't he just love me...? I'm his sister...Isn't he supposed to care at least a little bit....?" she thought before rolling onto her side, facing the wall.
Kristin and her brother had been orphaned when Kristin was fifteen. Her brother was twenty at the time. Kristin's brother, Tyler, was never interested in showing the slightest bit of care for her. All she had growing up, was her friends, her parents, and other family besides her brother. But, over time, her family died. Her friends either died, or moved away. All she had eventually, was her parents. And then, just her brother. Sometimes, she thought he blamed her for their death. Her brother usually ignored her. As long as she did her part around the house, then he never bothered her.
"Hey, baby," Tyler smiled as he linked arms with his girlfriend, Charlotte. They were engaged to be married in a few days.
"Hey, Ty." the dark red haired women smiled. She was a year older than he was.
"You ready to go, Charlotte?"
"Yep!" Tyler and Charlotte walked down to the car and got in. "So, how's your sister?" Charlotte asked as she buckled her seatbelt.
"Oh, she's fine," Tyler answered, a little evasive on the subject as always.
"Tyler, you never want to talk about Kristin. Is something wrong?"
"No, of course not! I just want to talk about us.." he lifted her hand and kissed it gently.
She gave a shy smile, her cheeks going pink. "Alright. If you say so, Ty."
Meanwhile, about six hours away in Connecticut, Daniel Adams was busy packing his things."Daniel, did you remember to pack that necklace?"
"Yes, grandpa, I did. Though I really don't think I'm gonna need it." Daniel rolled his eyes as his grandfather walked into the room.
"Maybe. But you never know. Tomorrow might just be the day you find your girl." the elderly man replied.
"Grandpa, I'm twenty. I'm gonna be twenty-one next year. I'm CEO of this company with a lot of responsibilities. Including this contract. I'm busy with my duties as CEO. I don't think I can be a good boyfriend or husband. Not to mention, I don't think it's gonna happen for a while."
"Boy, you need to loosen up. Don't worry so much. When the right time comes, you're gonna bump right into each other. And you will make a wonderful boyfriend and husband. Look at me, I was CEO with a lot of duties. Yet I made plenty of time for your grandmother, and then, your father. And after he died, I made plenty of time for you. Your father did the same before he died. If we can do it, so can you."
Daniel smiled at his grandfather. "Thanks, grandpa. Are you sure you don't want to come with me? I might need help or something. After all, I'm still new to this."
"I'm sure, boy. Now, hurry up. I told them you'd be there by at least by 3, 3:30." his grandfather told him.
"Yes sir. I'm finished now." the young man replied, zipping his suitcase. "I'll see you in a couple of days, grandpa."
"I'll see you then, Daniel. Be safe." his grandfather hugged his grandson.
"I will. I love you, grandpa," Daniel smiled at him from the doorway.
"Love you too, son." his grandfather smiled back at him. Daniel waved goodbye and walked away to say goodbye to his grandmother.
Daniel made a stop about half way to to Massachusetts. He arrived at his destination around 3:30. He was greeted by his friends, Dennis, Rory, and Don. He smiled as he got out of the car and walked over to the CEO of the Brown Corporation and his friends.
"Daniel, hello!" the CEO, Dennis, smiled as he shook his friend's hand.
"Hi, Dennis. Good to see you." Daniel replied. "Hi, Rory, hi, Don." he turned and shook hands with the brothers.
"Hi, Dan. It's nice to see you again. It's been a while." Don replied.
"That is has, Don. That it has. So, these are your lovely triplet wives I heard about in your letters?"
"Yes, they are." Rory smiled as he held his wife close. Her cheeks were bright pink as she smiled. "This is Lisa."
"This is her sister, Rachel." Dennis introduced his wife, his arm around her shoulder.
"And this, is their older sister, Dinah." Don smiled, holding his wife's hand.
"It's nice to meet you, Daniel." the triplet sisters replied, giving him a friendly smile.
He smiled at them. "It's nice to meet you lovely ladies as well. Any friend of Don, Rory, and Dennis' is a friend of mine." he replied.
"So, Dan, would you like to look around a bit before going to the mansion?" Dennis asked.
"Sure. It'd be nice to see how much has changed in the last four years."
The CEO nodded with a smile and the seven friends walked off.
