Killian's POV
I stood in front of Grey's office. It's been six minutes since I sent him a text and he still hadn't shown up. Bringing out my phone, I was about to dial his number when I sensed him.
"Miss me already?". I scoffed.
"What took you so long?", I asked as he opened his door.
"I was showing a new employee around"
I rolled my eyes and walked past him, settling down in his chair. He stared at me for a second before muttering under his breath and taking the sofa.
"So", he began. "What's so important you had to ruin my peace of mind this morning?"
"It's Audrey"
"Did she do something wrong? I know you hate when people make mistakes but she's new and doesn't..."
"You seem to have taken a liking to her", I cut in. He shrugged.
"She's really easy to like and", he paused and shook his head.
"And what?"
"It's nothing. It's just that I strangely feel protective of her"
"Go on"
"There's something about her. Since she arrived, I began to feel Adrian more than I have in over a month", he said. I leaned forward intrigued.
"Your wolf?", I asked and he nodded.
"Up until last night, I had my doubts about her being my mate". I felt a surge of anger and jealousy at his words but I quickly suppressed it.
"But after my wolf's return last night, all doubts were erased"
"But you still care for her"
"I don't know why. Anyway, enough about that, why did you come here today?"
"There's something off about her". He furrowed his eyebrows.
"Off as in how?"
"She doesn't seem to have an aura"
"Are you sure? I could have sworn she had a scent"
"Aura", I reiterated. "Not scent. Like an essence"
"Right, right", he repeated as he thought about it.
"She seems incomplete like something is missing"
"Yeah that's what I mean", I confirmed.
"And her scent, now that I think of it, it seems familiar. Like, like...", he trailed off.
"Aha, Club Eleven"
"That seems oddly specific"
"Why didn't I realize it before? Club Eleven is a perfume my mum used to use all the time when I was younger. And if that's the only smell she gives off..."
"Then she doesn't have her own", I completed.
"You're right, there is something off about her"
Audrey's POV
"Pick up, pick up", I muttered walking around in circles in the president's exquisite bathroom.
"Hey, what's up?"
"Thank goodness, Ayra I need your help"
"With what?"
"It's a bloody emergency". She went silent for about two seconds before asking
"Pads or tampons?"
"Anyone you can find and a change of clothes". I heard her shifting around and a door slam shut.
"Where are you?"
"In a toilet"
"Which one?"
"The one in the president's office"
"How? I'm not even going to start asking questions, but I guess you'll have like an hour since he's in a meeting with my brother"
"Okay"
"See you in five", she said and hung up. As if perfectly timed, the door opened and someone walked in.
It's him.
I could feel it in my gut. There's this feeling in the air when he's around. My heart beat harder with every step he took toward the bathroom. Then he stopped in front of it for a full minute.
"I know you're in there, come out before I make you"
How would he make you? Just stay where you are.
However, my feet had a mind of their own and walked out the door. He looked surprised to find me there but he masked it quickly.
"Why are you here? You were supposed to be gone by now"
"I was going to but..."
"But you felt it would be a good opportunity to snoop around didn't you?"
If you would just listen to me, you'll know that's not the case at all
"And why do you smell of blood?", he asked taking a step towards me and I stepped back.
"It's just a little...". The door opened interrupting me.
"Killian, I...". A growl cut Ayra off and I recoiled away from him. His eyes turned back to me and he stepped away.
"Consider this your last warning". I scurried away collecting a paper bag from Ayra before leaving.
