On a beautiful summer day a girl named Katherine , was sitting in the backyard of her grandmothers house thinking about her future.

She is a typical "cali" girl. She loves the sun, love going to the beach and of course the most important thing in her life ... Shopping! She was born and lives in a small town laguna beach. She is an only child. Her parents are very wealthy people. Her father is a celebrity lawyer and her mother is a former super model. Although her parents are rich, they're pretty much the down to earth type. They're very strict because they don't want her to turn into a spoiled brat.

Katherine is a 16 year old high school girl who's enjoying her last summer days before school starts. She is going to be a senior and hoping to be valedictorian when she graduates. Almost everybody at her school have only nice things to say about her. She is a cheerleader, a popular kid and a pretty girl however , she can be very shy at times and is not mean at all like most of the students thought when she was a new student. When she was 4 years old she moved to North Carolina with her parents and grandparents. Her father got a new position as senior partner at the firm in NC. Through the years they would go at least every summer vacation back to laguna beach. Katherine loved North Carolina but Laguna beach had her heart. She loved going to be beach and if it could, spent hours there. At the age of fourteen her father decided to start his own firm in Laguna. She was happy and sad at the same time because her grandparents made the decision to stay in North Carolina. They loved the country and felt more at peace. Saying goodbye to grandparents was one of the hardest things she had to do.

At first she only had 2 friends in Laguna because they were the only ones who stayed in contact with her. Violet and Olivia were both excited that their best friend is going to live in Laguna again. Because Laguna is a small town, most of the people know who you are. Especially Katherine's family. It didn't take long before people knew that the Matt family is back in town. Katie has been in public eye since she was born. Because her father has won almost every case and her mother is a worldwide retired super model, people treat her differently. Most kids her age have the idea that she's spoiled brat. That's why she had a hard time in the beginning making new friends. They would either ignore her or be really fake with her. Even though she was only fourteen at the time she could tell the difference between a real friend and a fake one. The fake ones always want to be best friends with her because of her fame. She learned that growing up in North Carolina. Aside from loving the beach, she also adored the countryside in NC. Her grandparents bought a luxury house, however they gave it their own touches to make it feel more cosy and not just modern big house. Kat loves their backyard, its one of her favorite places to just sit , relax and think. It wasn't her grandmothers garden or the trees but the beautiful view of the mountains that made her love North Carolina too. Every time she sat on the swing in the garden it made her realize how blessed she is. That's why she's grateful for everything she has and happens to her, even the smallest things.
