Lily's POV

That night I laid on my bed staring at the ceiling as the last orange embers of color died out in the sky. My room was consumed by the early darkness, leaving a comfortable yet eerie feeling throughout my entire room. We had sat in that coffee shop until we both got calls from our mother's asking us where we were. Then we both made our way towards our separate houses and I felt completely happy. I feel fulfilled and I just hope this feeling lasts forever. I slightly tilted my head so I could see outside. The world seemed so calm, and it finally felt like I was fitting into it. This is a complete over reaction to having one good day, but its something that I can be happy about.

My phone buzzed on my nightstand, making me look from outside to my drawer. I reached over and grabbed it, looking at the text on the screen. From Tony, Hey what are you doing right now?

Tony. I feel like I haven't really been with him in forever. I quickly typed back to him. Nothing, why what's up? I could already tell he was inviting me over. Maybe he already had all the guys over and wanted to have a late night hang. My phone vibrated again in my hands. I was wondering if you wanted to hang out. You can sleep over if you want, we haven't hung out in forever. I'll come pick you up. I really wanted to hang out with him. Plus I'm pretty sure he means just us, which I would love. After a nice relaxing day, it would be nice to just chill with Tony.

Let me ask my mom. I said back. And this time I wouldn't lie. I wouldn't say I was going to Skylar's, I would ask her if I could sleep at Tony's. She's met Tony and for some reason she absolutely loved him. I stood from my bed and made my way downstairs. My dad was sitting on the couch typing away on his laptop. Even when he's actually home, he's still at work. My mom was in the kitchen, sitting at the table reading a book.

"Mom." I said and sat in the chair next to her. I know I looked nervous, and according to her face when she looked at me, she obviously saw that.

"What's wrong Lil?" she asked and put her book down. I shouldn't be nervous. All I'm asking is to go sleep at my best friend's house. Nothing huge.

"Tony wanted to know if I could sleepover his house tonight." I said, straight to the point. She looked from me to outside.

"It's too dark out to walk, you can go if he picks you up." She said and smiled. Relieve filled me as I smiled. I'm so glad that was the answer and not some speech.

"He will, thanks mom." I said with the biggest smile and went to stand up.

"Lil." She said and the mere name made me sit down. I looked at her waiting for her to keep speaking. "Thank you for asking me and telling the truth instead of sneaking out or lying. And you know you can always come to me with anything." She said and touched my hand. Oh God. She was going to turn this into some huge coming of age speech isn't she?

"I know mom." I said and smiled. She sighed and probably realized what she was doing.

"Go get a bag and come back down." She said, still smiling. Little does she know this isn't my first time sleeping at his house. I nodded and went upstairs, texting Tony in the process. I'm good to spend the night. My mom just wants you to pick me up. I sent the text and grabbed my backpack. I threw in a change of clothes for the morning, my hairbrush, and my phone charger. I probably wouldn't need any of it but my phone charger. Placing my phone on my dresser, I changed into a pair of sweat pants, an old tee shirt, and the nearest hoodie I could find. My phone buzzed while I braided my hair and I glanced at it on my dresser.

Leaving now, be there in like two minutes. He had messaged back. There wasn't really much I could think of needed besides the few things I threw in my backpack, so I shrugged the bag over my shoulder and shoved my phone in the hoodie pocket. I walked down the stairs and slipped on my slippers that I usually wear in the summer, but were out because my mom was cleaning out the closet. Why not I guess? I saw my mom was still reading at the table, so I sat next to her and didn't say a word.
