Clandestine
Love letters, yes, they are old-fashioned but sweet. But it can also creep you out.
Hindi ko lang talaga alam kung ano'ng meron sa kaibigan ko at okay lang sa kanya ang makatanggap ng love letters from someone unknown halos araw-araw, ever since the start of our 4th year in high school. Or, maybe, ako lang talaga 'tong masyadong nerbyosa at nag-iisip ng masama.
I may not had the chance to read them even once, pero most of the time ay may idea ako kung ano ang laman nung letter.
I tried to warn her, pero nagagalit siya sa 'kin every time I bring that up.
And this time, the letter is no different.
I'm all ears for that," I said, convincing her into telling me its content.
I respect her privacy and all that, pero obvious nang may problema ngayon, so I didn't hesitate to steal the letter from her. "Ano bang proble--"
"HEY!" "What's wrong with you?!" huling sabi niya, at saka padabog na naglakad palayo.
I should be the one to ask her that. What's wrong with her?
Dahil sa eksenang ginawa niya ay may mga estudyanteng tumingin sa gawi ko, and I tried to erase their confusion by smiling and telling them that nothing's wrong. The world is full of chismosas.
"Tine, I'm sorry," mahinang sabi niya matapos umupo sa kaharap kong upuan. "Ang weird lang talaga nung nabasa ko, and, I just want to keep it to myself for the meantime. Sana maintindihan mo."
"Don't be sorry, Reddana. Oh, well, be sorry, deserve ko ng apology," pabiro kong saad.
And then she spilled it, or maybe just a little bit. Apparently, the sender had known about what was going on with Reddana's personal life. May mga bagay rin daw na fully aware siya na hindi naman dapat, like yung mga kinaiinisan ni Reddana, and all those smallest details about her na kahit sa akin ay hindi niya naman sinasabi, simply because there's no need for me to know.
"Stalker."
"Huh? H-Hindi ko alam."
"Obvious naman na ah, stalker siya! And you should know how dangerous it could end up.
She looked down. It comforts me."
