Ah, yes I've officially finished my fall semester of college and now I'm on the road to Portland. If you're wondering why I'm heading to Portland instead of my own house, Uncle Gary called me and said he wanted me to visit Portland for a couple days.
Crazy right...
This summer before Uncle Gary got traded to Portland I came up with a bucket list of things to do before summer was over, unfortunately he got traded so we couldn't do it. Now that Winter Break is here I've recreated the list and there are pretty odd and crazy things on the list.
1. Binge watch Avatar: The Last Airbender
2. Go play golf at Topgolf
3. Mortal Kombat 11 tournament
4. Fun day out at the arcade
5. Cotton Candy eating contest
6. Take Photos in the countryside
7. scavanger hunt
8. boat trip
9. get tattoos
10. do something sciency.
11. (next time) Visit Hollywood and Vine.
It's a pretty crazy list but I've spent time thinking about this and as I put it together I thought to myself.
Maybe I could do this with Jordan one day...
But who knows only the future will tell about that.
Uncle Gary's 30th birthday was last week so I plan to surprise him with a cake. It's kinda hard to make that 10 hour drive alone but if it means I get to spend time with my uncle I'd do it any day.
About 20 minutes later I pulled up in Uncle Gary's driveway and parked. I got out and knocked on his door with the cake in my hand.
Uncle Gary answers the door in 5 minutes flat.
" Well damn Carrington, you didn't even give me time to get dressed". He says walking out shirtless
" umm, happy belated birthday." I said handing him the cake
" Thanks sweetheart". Uncle Gary said hugging me.
I walk inside his house and gaze around.
" whoa, your house is like Marie Antoinette's castle". I said in awe. " Let's get to the first thing on our bucket list."
" and what is that, my dear niece". Uncle Gary said
" We're gonna binge Avatar the Last Airbender". I said looking at the list.
"Alright, let's get to it then". Uncle Gary replied
I walk into the living room and turn on the TV. I sign into Paramount+ and scroll through the episodes. Damn... so many
I then decided on an episode, Sozin's Comet which is the series finale.
If you're wondering why I chose the series finale instead of the premiere episode it was more movie-like and it's hands down one of the best episodes in the series.
(Tales of Ba Sing Se, The Southern Raiders and The Swamp is great too) but Sozin's Comet is top tier.
Uncle Gary sits down on the couch next too me and puts his arm around my shoulder. We sit on the couch eating cake watching Zuko and Katara battle Azula in the Fire Nation colony. As we were sitting on the couch Uncle Gary was stuffing his face with cake and had icing all over his face.
" Uncle Gary, you got icing all over your face." I said laughing
" oh I do". He says looking at me.
He picks up a handful of cake off his plate and smears some on my face.
" Oh, it's on." I said.
"Let them eat cake". I say imitating Marie Antoinette as we proceed to throw cake at each other.
First thing off the bucket list check...
" So that's one thing checked off our bucket list complete". I said. " Tomorrow we go to the arcade and play dance , dance revolution".
" noted, well imma hit the sack." uncle gary said getting up from the couch heading up to his room.
" goodnight unc." I say watching him walk upstairs.
this week is gonna be totally epic...
Disclaimer: This is not a love story, just a girl spending time with her uncle in Portland.
