In school, I was always the quiet kid. People wondered why and I never knew why until I found my best friend, Hardy. Now I'm sitting in a bar with him and his fiancée.
——
"How's Carter?" Hardy asked me. Carter is my boyfriend who seems to not care for me. I rolled my eyes and he gave a chuckle. "It's okay. You don't have to respond to that." Suddenly, Hardy got a call. He took it and came back. "I have to go to the studio. You want to come, Jay?" He asked me. "Sure." I said not positive about this but I went with it anyways.
In the car drive there Hardy and I were talking. "You sing, don't you?" He asked me. I turned my head to face him. "Yeah but that doesn't mean I'm good." He laughed and nodded his head. "I'm sure you are."
We arrived at the studio and there was a bunch of men there. One was singing. He had a mullet with his brown hair. He had on jeans, boots and a gray t-shirt. He had on a thin gold necklace. He sounded great. "Who is that?" I asked Hardy. "Oh that's Morgan Wallen, my other best friend." Once he said that, my jaw dropped. Morgan. My ex boyfriend? Jesus.
"Hardy, that's my ex." I said after 5 minutes. Hardy looked shocked but it was fine. I took a seat on the couch while a bunch of the guys left and so did Hardy so they could talk. I stayed put while Morgan was coming back from the recording room.
"Morgan." I said annoyed. He recognized my voice and me right away.
"Jayde." He said annoyed.
We broke up because he cheated on me and I wasn't a good girlfriend, but we truly did love each other.
He sat down across from me and took a sip of a beer he had on the table. He saw me eyeballing the beer and he handed it to me so I took a sip and passed it back. He had a hat on and it was backwards.
"Whatcha writing?" I asked curious because there was nothing to talk about. He smiled and set his beer down. "It's called 7 Summers." He said. I nodded. "What's it about?"
"You."
