Crash!
Sahri awoke as stimuli blasted her senses. Her head seemed to spin and bright colors flashed every second accompanied by a sound as if metal was dragging on concrete.
Sahri took a minute sitting under her green duvet before turning on her lamp and tiptoeing to her window. She hissed at what she saw and went to her nightstand to retrieve her glasses. She had to be absolutely sure of what she thought she saw, but unfortunately, she was right the first time.
Outside there was a person, a metallic purple person! Sahri could feel her heart in her ears. She wanted to scream, but if she did she knew it would alert whatever or well whoever was standing in her backyard. Sahri watched the person's movements as they went to their transport.
It was oddly characterized like it's owner, with rigid petal-like shapes covering its exterior. It reminded Sahri of dragon scales. The ship, if you could call it that, was a lilac shade of purple with domed walls and engines protruding from its backend.
Sahri sighed, "You're so beautiful."
The humanoid figure made a trilling sound and looked up at the house. Sahri, oblivious, continued to admire the figure's transport. Before she could blink, the creature was up the wall and through her window. She gasped for air and then everything went black.
Deep breathing echoed around in Sahri's head, she wondered why she was spent. She tried to process her surroundings, which sent her mind wandering. Why was she on the floor beside her bed?
Why did she smell smoke?
Who was that person in the purple suit standing above her?Wait, she thought. Purple? Suit? Suddenly, her head started to pound and her breathing grew ragged once more. She remembered it all- the crash, the bulbous ship, and the creature climbing into her window.
She gasped as her back was suddenly against the wall, she had wedged herself between her nightstand and the corner of the room. She watched as the creature stalked towards her, holding out their hands as they got closer.
"It is okay, human, '' the creature said. "I mean no harm. So could you please calm your shuddering of fear?"
The humanoid's purple skin shimmered like a rolling ocean. Sahri began to breathe deeper and her heart steadied. Somehow, she became calm when the creature told her to. In the back of her mind she knew she should've been alarmed but her thoughts kept drifting back to the creature's pretty, aglow skin.
She stood up from her hideout and walked towards the creature and reached out her hand.
"Shake it, " she said. "It's a form of greeting," she further insisted, "of new friends."
"Yes, I am aware. We have studied your kind for many years, " the creature uttered.
"Wait, hold on. We? As in there are more of you?" Sahri whimpered- her fear was back tenfold.
"Well, that's what 'we' means, correct?" The creature had a sarcastic lilt to their voice. "As I mentioned earlier, my people have studied yours for many years and your planet. We needed a new home and have found one on your planet. In a matter of a year or so, our planet will crash with the star Tzeir and go supernova.'' The creature continued to prattle on about their planet and gravity mechanics.
Fed up, Sahri burst forth and said, "Get out."
"I cannot do that either, " the humanoid settled for. "My transport was damaged in flight and sent me millions of miles from where we planned our settlement."
"Okay." Sahri was beginning to look at this from a different perspective. She began to consider many options of how the situation could go.
I mean, she thought, someone is bound to notice an entire world's worth of alien ships streaking across the sky. The government probably already knows, so there isn't a shock factor. If I turn them in, she thought, I could probably pay for college all the way up to a masters in any major of my choice. I bet the government would pay a lot to keep this hidden from the rest of the public.
