A few hours passed as they enjoyed the evening. Still no Johnny. Kyouki wasn't going to wait much longer for the man to come back. She gave Aisha a necklace that was a circle half. Ky pulled the other half from around her neck. Yin and yang necklace special order. Onyx and Pearl replaced the black and white backing of a cheaper store trinket. A black and white diamond nestled in their contrasting color, sparkling from whatever light touches them. Kyouki kept the black with a white diamond. Clasping the other around her best girlfriend's neck.
"I love you so much. I am so glad I met you. Thank you for letting me have this night. I wish others were here, but as long as you are, I'm great. Happy early birthday Wifey!!" Kyouki hugged the woman tight.
Aisha agreed. "Aww, I love you too girl, so much... gonna make me cry damnit." They both laughed, blotting their eyes

Soon the lights dimmed and wheeled out a cake soon after and on it exactly nineteen candles. Kyouki laughed. "Really? I was joking!"
Then they rolled out one with twenty, another with twenty-one. Kyouki almost couldn't see, seeing seven cakes lined up, each one with an added candle more elaborate and beautiful than the last. Kyouki couldn't help but shed happy tears. "Oh, Noel, why?" Ky sniffed.
Aisha leaned her head on her shoulder. "We missed you. This was Johnny's idea." She whispered the last statement.
Then it slapped her. Johnny's idea, his choice of song, his birthday song. That was their song? And he left because she just sang it to someone else.
Kyouki closed her eyes. Does Johnathan Gat honestly feel that way about her? The thought of him picking out something that wasn't a weapon, him selecting cakes, that represented six missed birthdays they didn't get to share. Five of them are Kyouki's missing years.
'Not Johnny. Aisha was just saying it was him.' Kyouki refused to believe Johnny would do something like that.
Kyouki will have to get her answers from Johnny. If he will speak to her now. "I really love you guys. Thank you!" Hugging Aisha once more.

It was getting late and Ky promised to spend some time with Dane since he came all the way from the other side of town, but before Dane could sweep the birthday girl to his apartment, Aisha had some bad news.
Pulling Kyouki to the side, well away from the others. "Kyouki, hun, do not overreact. But who you are seeing isn't Whitmore. that's..." The look on Kyouki's face changed her mind. "Nevermind."
"What?"
"Nothing, just forget it. You enjoy your night." Hugging Ky once more turned her around, pushing her forward, then going back to text Johnny.
Kyouki nodded. She told Dane to go ahead and she'll meet him outside in a second. Watching him descend the stairs.
"Pierce."
"Uh yeah." As he was eating more cake.
"Find out who Dane Whitmore is. I want you to text me. Look up the Whitmore family while you are at it."
"You got it."
~
Kyouki smiled as Dane held the door open for her, and again when he held the car door open.
"You are emphatically unbelievable, My Lady." he whispered in her ear.
Kyouki turned to Dane meeting his eyes, she glanced briefly at his lips then into his eyes again. "As you are eloquent."
~*~*~
It started the second they entered the car, the ceaseless flirtation, compliments flowed from his lips. Her hand gently halted his speaking.
