~Aurora Smith~
I race down the hall, sprinting as fast as possible to get away from the Mino-Tamer, who wants to eat me again. I stop, breathing heavily. I'm not cut out for this. My legs are burning; the running strained the life out of them. They lie limp as I plop down on the cold floor like a noodle. Where's Belle? I'm totally going to be eaten, and then I can't pass. Just wonderful.
The Mino-Tamer turns the corner, its huge nose sniffing for food. By food, I mean me, of course. The spider by him nudges his arm, pointing him towards me. Well, there goes my chance of surviving the day.I get up and start running again, turning left and right in this endless maze called a school. I look for the science lab so I can burn the Mino-Tamer with the dangerous substances in the lab, but I step forward, and the ground vanishes beneath my feet. I fall about twelve feet, landing on my arm.
I hear a crack, and I wince in response—both to the pain of the injury, and to the sound. The Mino-Tamer falls from the same spot that I fell, and I have the sense to roll out of the way before he crushes me. Sure that he's stunned, I begin to clamber up a rocky wall. I enter a rectangular room on the second floor of the building I'm climbing, and look up right into a mirror.
My reflection stares back, looking just the slightest bit confused. The mirror's screen waivers, and I scream as a large black hole swallows me up.
"Get out of here you bitch!" My father yells, throwing a piece of glassware at a woman cowering by the front door.
"Mama..." I say quietly, wishing that I could help her with the new magic I've learned.
"Please, David." She pleads, her blood running in a straight line down her face, mingling with the salty rivers of tears. Her once beautiful brown hair is matted and dirty.
"Did you hear me the first time?! Get out! This is my house!" He repeats, just more angrily this time. My older consciousness sinks in—the one that's sixteen years old, not six. No... this couldn't be the memory. And why am I having it right now?! When I need to flee from the Mino-Tamer!
"Papa... why?" I ask, my trembling voice the one of a small child, yet to grow up. I hated it. And I still do. The innocence, the stupidity, and hopelessness of my younger self. I was unable to save my parents. And now, I'm unable to save myself.
"DAVID!" My mother screams, clutching the door knob. "I'm leaving! I'm just going to ask... please take care of..." Crack!
My father shoots the gun that he had been holding. She convulses and slumps to the ground, blood pooling around her limp figure.
He dusts his hands off, saying, "She wasn't worth it. She didn't deserve a life," he kept muttering, as if he meant to save himself from the guilt. That was the last straw for me, and my little self.
"AHHH!" We scream as one. Blue fire whips around me like an inferno. It grows larger until it breaks through the roof, burning the house down. I grab the gun in all the confusion, and I hold it to my father. "Why... did you KILL HER?!"
"She wanted to die." My father stated simply, no emotion showing on his face.
"SHE WAS MY MOTHER!"
"She wasn't. At least, she wasn't your real mother."
"What do you mean?" I ask, a little more calm now.
"You were found on her doorstep." He said in a flat tone. He held out a small cup of water and a pill.
"I want to die too, Aurora. Why don't we die together?" I felt sickened by the look of pleading on his face. It was disgusting, and looking back on it, it still is. The offer is quite tempting now, though. Finally, I'm able to control my little self, and I stretch out my hand, ready to take the pill, but I fall to my knees. The room shakes violently as I hear Belle screaming, "I WILL SAVE YOU, AURORA!"
