Jonah sat up in his bed. He rubbed his eyes and looked around. The bright sunlight peeking through the windows blinded him. He blinked a few times and pushed his blankets aside. He stood up and walked out into the hall. He had done this before..

"4 times a charm.." He thought. He walked down the staircase and into the "living room", which was nothing close to lively.

Adam lay passed out on the couch and the TV left on static. Jonah took the remote from Adam's hand and flipped it to the news channel. He didn't know why Adam liked listening to static every night.

Jonah stepped into the kitchen and poured himself some cereal. He sat and pondered for a moment. Then after a few seconds he opened the fridge. He took the second carton of milk. The first one was expired.

Jonah poured his milk into his bowl and sauntered into the living room, where Adam was just now waking up.

"Good morning, Adam." Jonah said quietly.
If he said it any more energetically than the first time, or any louder, Adam would have slapped him. He knew.

"Good morning.." Adam yawned.

"What are you doing up so early..?" He asked.

"Oh just.. hungry. I just wanted some breakfast." He replied.

"Oh ok." Adam said as he sat up and walked off into the kitchen.

"If you're having any cereal make sure you grab the one with less milk in it. The other is expired."

Adam stared him.

"Uh..huh.." He said hesitantly, and proceeded to pull out a bowl for himself.

"Where's Sarah?" Jonah asked. He honestly didn't know. The closest he got to finding out was two tries ago. He asked Adam without warning him about the milk, and Adam wouldn't answer much. Then...

Jonah spaced out. He was stuck in thought. Tracking back all those "days" again. What did he do last time? What should he do this time? Who's gonna kill him this time?

"You ok there?" Adam asked as he joined Jonah on the couch.

"Hm? Oh, yeah yeah..  I'm good." He said without looking at Adam.

"I feel like something's up." Adam remarked.

"Nothing is wrong," Jonah reassured.

"Just... didn't feel it today." He continued. Adam patted his shoulder.

"Alright, I guess.." He said, still obviously suspicious of him.
