Pain, that's all I could feel.

My entire body ached and screamed for the pain to disappear, yet it did no such thing.

A ringing in my ears told me I was still alive.

Groaning, I felt my hand twitch from beside me. I slowly began to flutter my eyes open only to be met by the bright light of the sun. Fear shot through me as I tried to recall what just happened. My head ached, causing my hand to try and grasp it.

"I thought you would never wake up." I immediately cast my gaze to the voice, my hand dropping. "If only you could have seen it coming.."

A masked figure sat atop a desk to my left under a dark shadow, there was rubble all over the ground. The walls around us seemed destroyed and cracked with pipes jutting out of the edges. "Why do you look so lost?" he smirked, his smile unsettling to me for some reason. "Did it really hurt that bad?"

My voice was lost in my throat as I slowly gaped at the figure trying to speak. "Who.. are you?" The figure tried to hold back a laugh only to chuckle, "You can't be serious, we met up just last week, although... you didn't leave a mark that time."

What does he mean?

I glared at the man before me, his eyes held amusement from my confusion. "I don't know what you're going on about but I know for a fact that I don't remember you. Let alone what I'm doing here."

The smirk instantly fell from his face.

It took a moment of him looking just over the wall before he slowly lifted his mask from his face. He began to walk closer into the light, he was the definition of a heartthrob, the only reason he didn't hold that title now was his arrogance.

"You really don't remember.." He ended up crouched beside me whisking a stray hair from my face. His eyes held a hint of some emotion other than amusement, "I didn't mean for it to hit that hard, it was meant to just throw you off balance.."

He paused for a moment glancing around at our surroundings seeming lost in thought.

"Here we need to get out of here before the police come."

I shift my weight to stand as he hesitantly offers a hand to help me up. I glanced between him and his hand, wincing as I stood, denying any help. "Why would the police get involved..?" The sentence seemed forced, my voice betraying my attempt at sounding calm.

What even happened..? Was I kidnapped?

"Well I kind of blew up this building and with no hero to stop me up here, the police will be waiting to take claim once they realize." he explained the matter with no hesitation as if this was just another walk in the park.

How is he so calm about blowing up a building and possibly getting arrested?!

Shock must have been evident on my face because he just chuckled, ushering me to the stairs. "The faster we get out of here the better."

The stairs were long and treacherous, the sound of our footsteps echoing consistently in our silence.

I kept him in my sight. One wrong move and something bad could happen to me, especially if he blew up the building with no remorse.

He must have noticed my gaze as he began to move faster to get in front of me, slightly smirking once again.

"The door will be down the hall to the right, on my signal we run." I nodded, but he hesitated glancing between the stairs door and me. It seemed rather odd how long this guy took to think during a time like this.

"I hope you don't mind but just in case.." He then reached for my hand and glanced around the corner, waiting a moment before dragging me with him.

AN: Okay Okay I know I gave up on all my other projects but this one will stick!

Especially since I will be typing this story out on the go.

I am currently working on the second book as I already have the ending in place for this one so that I can hopefully edit and retype chapters of this every week, just know if they aren't posted by Sunday (Central Standard Time) around 10 am to 1 pm that there will be no chapter for that week due to to some real life events :)

I can't wait to post chapter 2 tomorrow!

Hopefully you will enjoy this series!
