Morty Smith stared at the portal gun in his hand, feeling equal parts fear and excitement. He had always dreamed of going on adventures through the multiverse, but now that he was actually holding the means to make that happen, he wasn't sure if he was ready.

"Come on, Morty, what are you waiting for?" Rick Sanchez's voice boomed from behind him. "I don't have all day. We've got a lot of ground to cover and not a lot of time to do it."

Morty turned to face his grandfather, who was leaning against the wall of their garage, arms crossed. "I don't know, Rick," Morty said. "What if something goes wrong? What if we get stuck in one of those alternate realities forever?"

Rick chuckled. "What, you're afraid? Morty, you're the one who's always begging me to let you come along on these adventures. This is what you wanted, remember?"

Morty thought about it for a moment, then took a deep breath and nodded. "You're right. Let's do this."

He aimed the portal gun at the wall and pulled the trigger. A swirling vortex of blue light appeared, and Morty stepped through it, followed closely by Rick.

On the other side of the portal, Morty found himself in a world that was both familiar and strange. The sky was a sickly shade of green, and towering skyscrapers rose up in the distance. But at the same time, he could see a faint reflection of his own face in a nearby window, and the street signs were written in English.

"Where are we?" Morty asked, looking around in wonder.

"I'm not sure," Rick replied. "But it looks like we're on a parallel Earth. Maybe one where things went a little differently."

Morty was about to ask what he meant when a group of armed men appeared out of nowhere, surrounding them. "Freeze!" one of them shouted. "You're under arrest for interdimensional travel without a permit!"

Rick sighed. "Typical. Come on, Morty, let's see if we can talk our way out of this."

As Morty followed Rick forward, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. He was on an adventure, just like he always dreamed of. And even though things were already going wrong, he was confident that he and Rick would be able to handle whatever the multiverse had in store for them.
