I walked back home with Husky, holding my Penny Board in the hand that wasn't holding the leash. Soon enough, I walked past house number 123, seeing their mum through the windows, but didn't pay much attention to her. She seemed like she was talking to one of the boys, but I couldn't really see.
I finally arrived at my own house, unlocking the door and putting my Penny Board to the side of the door. I let Husky off of his leash, letting him roam freely around our house. I didn't really have much to do today, or any day since I've been here. I've Googled some things to do, but I've done most of those things already in my life. I just decided to have a stroll through town because there wasn't really anything left to do. Maybe I could get my mum a present? I don't know.
I went upstairs to my room, grabbing my leather backpack, iPhone and my purse. I quickly looked at myself in the mirror that was also my dresser. I looked just fine to go out for a bit. I went back downstairs to my kitchen, looking through my fridge to find some food to take with me. I finally spotted an apple, which I threw into my backpack, a Granola Bar and some banana bread which I cut up and put into a container.
I quickly checked Husky's food and water bowls to see that they were full enough for until I got back. I looked up at the clock in the living room, to see it was only 10:36am. My mum doesn't finish work until 6:00pm. I was just about to head back up to my room to grab my list of shops that sell interesting things I had discovered, until I heard a knock on my door.
I walked over to my door, and looked through the peep-hole.
What? Why is he here?
"Hi Hayes. Can I help you with anything?" I asked, opening the door to see the boy I met earlier with who seemed to be his older brother.
"Uh, yeah. I thought you might want to come with us," he pointed to his brother behind him, "to the trampoline park that just opened. Apparently it's really cool..." I was surprised he was asking me to come with him. Maybe there aren't many more people our age in this neighbourhood.
"Yeah.... I'd love to, but can I just quickly grab something from my room? You can come in if you'd like." I opened the door more and stepped out of the way so they could both walk in, which they did.
I quickly ran up my stairs, taking 2 at a time. I ruffled around my desk in my room to find the paper with the list, and soon found it. I made sure to bring my pen to check things off as well.
"Okay, I'm rea- um...." I was cut off, seeing them walking around my living room, picking up different ornaments and pictures of my family, my mum and I. There were even some of my dad and I which were at the back so I didn't have to face him every day.
"Oh, sorry. We didn't mean to intrude on your privacy, we were just interested." The older boy explained, both of them putting whatever was in their hands, down.
I just shrugged, checking over the list again so that they could keep looking. I didn't really mind after all.
"Who's this?" Hayes asked.
I looked up to see he was looking at a picture of my dad when he was about 25. He's now 52.
"That's my.... uh..... dad. Yeah...." I said awkwardly, not wanting to cry in-front of them. It was a really sensitive topic for me.
"Oh. He looks like you. Like... a lot." Hayes commented again, pointing at his curved jaw-line, light-blue eyes and nose, which we had in common.
"Yeah, I know. Um... can we go now?" I asked, wanting to move on. I'm not ready to talk to them about my dad yet.
"Yeah, sure." the older boy said.
A/N
Hi
So I really hope you liked this chapter. She will eventually open up to Hayes about her dad and family, but their relationship is still blossoming, so I have to wait. I don't want to rush this book and ruin it.
