08 - Not Such A Stranger

"What a dump!" Yurushi shouts, dropping the other end of the rolled up mattress.

"Ah!" You exclaim, almost falling over.

The man leaves you to struggle with pulling the mattress through the doorway while he walks around, observing the room.

There's a bed with green sheets in the left corner, accompanied with two pillows.

Next to the bed, there is a short wooden nightstand with a brown lamp on top. On the right of the lamp, a picture frame sits there. In the frame, there is a snow fox.

A dresser separates the nightstand and a bookshelf. On the right side of the room, there's a door. Yurushi opens it to reveal a bathroom.

"Quit being nosy and help me!"

The curious man ignores your grunting and grumbling. He looks around the bathroom. There is a bathtub, sink, toilet and mirror, and there's just a bunch of other things scattered around that belong to you, like towels, faceclothes, etcetera.

"You're free from the strict life as a Harbinger and you become an animal..." He mutters, leaving the bathroom.

But something special about your home is that in every corner he looks, there's an instrument. Then his eyes land on the lyre, sitting on a shelf. He smiles a little.

By the time Yurushi is done snooping around, you have the mattress out of its package and laying in the middle of the floor. You and Yurushi bought it in Port Ormos and walked it all the way to your home, which was a little bit of a struggle but it worked.

"I'm in charge." Yurushi says.

"What?!" You nearly choke out a laugh.

"Clean your mess up. It's such a sore to my eyes." He makes a disgusted look on his face.

You take a deep breath before speaking. "Yurushi, this is my home."

"I'm your roommate now."

"I can kick you out."

"You really want to work two jobs?" A smirk dances on his lips.

There's a long pause before you scoff.

"You like having control, don't you?"

He chuckles and shrugs. "Who doesn't?"

"I'm not going to bicker about this shit now," You sigh, wiping the light coat of sweat off of your forehead. "You'll need a frame for your bed. I can build it with the wood out back, if that's okay."

"That'd be splendid."

"In the meantime, I'd like you to buy some groceries." You say, pulling a box of tools out from under your bed.

"Only if you clean."

You stand up straight and stare at him. "Dude. I'm literally going to build your bed frame and make dinner."

"Well I'm not cleaning your mess."

"Go buy groceries." You say sternly.

"Clean up, and I'll get groceries and make food."

"Whatever!" You sigh out, pushing the front door open. "We'll discuss equal responsibilities and rules later on."

Yurushi just huffs before heading outside after you. He watches you head into the backyard before leaving, wandering up a path towards Port Ormos.

You pull the twin size mattress onto the bed frame, using all of your remaining strength to finish the job. When the mattress is secured, and you make sure it fits correctly, you back up and heave out an exhausted sigh, wiping sweat off of your forehead.
