When I was of the age of nine, a series of murders surfaced. Every one of these deranged murders were committed in different ways. Lil' Samuel O'Reily who went missing at Four in the morning. He was found three days following his disappearance, only, he was pinned to a tree missing all of his vital organs. Or Sally Smith, no one noticed her disappearance until she was found- scattered across the Michigan forests. No one knew much about the killer besides the fact that he seemed only to be interested in child victims. He took up the name of the "Michigan Ripper", but to the folk of Michigan, we knew him as the "Demon in Man's Boots".

On a cold Tuesday night of 1982, My parents had left me with a teenage babysitter so they could enjoy a date, the first they would have had since my birth. They weren't to return until morning. Shortly after eating dinner I entered my room and tried to sleep. I woke to a loud noise, almost like shattering glass. I cautiously walked around the corner to see where that loud crash came from.

You know that feeling when you wanted to scream but no sound left your throat. Like you feel the pressure of the sound yet you hear nothing. That's exactly what I felt.

To this day, the image of seeing my babysitter dangling from the fan on my ceiling, blood dripping from her and onto the white couch below her is still branded to the back of my head. I ran as fast as my feet would take me. Once policed arrived, there was no trace of the Ripper besides his signature R that he engraved in each victim as if he was leaving his watermark on a piece of art.

In the following months, the Michigan Ripper was caught and convicted of all of his murders. He was sentence to Death Row, but when the day of his sentence approached, he was not to be found, and never resurfaced. But even to this day, he is said to still be loose, and potentially dangerous.
