When night falls, the group takes refuge in an abandoned barn. They went through a gap in between the doors. In which it was big enough for each of them to slip in, but not enough for anyone who is large to get in.
RJ guides everyone into the barn with the last of the group being the pangolins as they were desperate to get in for the night. Especially since there's no telling what types of foes that might be looking in the dark.
After that, they soon get in. Verne helps RJ take shifts. Along with some of the others too. All of them know that Snaps is out there. He was a giant alligator snapping turtle who tried to overthrow them to gain control of Eden.
He also leads an army of animals who had also betrayed everyone too such as other snapping turtles, snakes, monitor lizards, foxes, rats, mice, feral cats, giant salamanders and bullfrogs. All of which were banished after what they did.
But considering that they could be anywhere, RJ and the others assured themselves that Snaps is going to kill them. Even knowing that he and his kind are one of the species that'll never learn and would get to big for their bridges.
Especially when they think they're superior to other small creatures, especially other turtle species. It was a long time, but everyone pushed through and didn't give up.
