I called Peggy over and put her on her lead. Sherlock bounced down the stairs closely followed by John and I.
"Ah, out on one of your cases, Sherlock? Or are you just off to Tesco's?" Mrs Hudson inquired.
"No, we're out on a case and, to be honest, it couldn't come soon enough." my father replied with a smile.
And with that, we said goodbye to Mrs Hudson and rushed out the door. Sherlock immediately got out his phone and started texting Greg for information with John occasionally having to pull him sideways to stop him walking directly into a pole.We followed Lestrade's directions to the alleyway where the body was found, it was mid afternoon with the sun sitting high in the sky yet the alley stayed dark and dingy. Once we had walked up to the police tape, we were met with Anderson's face, yet again, protesting about letting Peggy onto the scene. I rolled my eyes so hard, I'm pretty sure I saw my own spine. Greg strided over and told us that Peggy was more than welcome to come under the tape and into the area. Sherlock lifted the tape for us all and then ducked under it himself. We made our way to the body, Peggy tugging on her lead in excitement. I had to give the lead to John because she was about to dislocate my shoulder. We all crowded round the corpse propped up against the wall.
"Daniel Richards. That's the poor lad on there," he said, pointing to the corpse,"There was some ID on him. Ummm, we've swabbed the bite wound for saliva and we've got some results. Our murderer is a Mrs Ellen Richards, the stiff's wife, well, widow now . . . um so if you just wanna have a look around, Sherlock, and if you find anything, give us a shout!" Lestrade finished as he walked away.
Sherlock immediately started making deductions as John watched in awe, I on the other hand, started to inspect the area around the stiff. I found no evidence of any murder weapon apart from the bite marks around the man's neck. Lestrade walked back over. "Oh, Sherlock? Can you have a look round her house and see what you can find. Here's the address," he said as he handed Sherlock a slip of paper with an address on it, "we're all sorted here so you can go now if you want." he finished. Sherlock took a quick glance at the paper and strided away in what I assumed was the right direction.
