"Erin, come on honey, let's go! We are leaving!"
"Okay, okay, just cleaning up! I'll be right there!" The girl responded from her hiding place.
The seventeen year old sighed. She would definitely miss this place. She took in the sight of the room, the world here she had built from scratch. She knew well enough that she couldn't bring any of her belongings to her next stay. It would be wrong, out of place.
She picked up the silver necklace on the floor and stowed it away in her pocket. It was silly, she knew, but still, it was to significant importance to her. Then, she turned away and ran to her awaiting family.
That night, as the family of four reached their destination, Erin crawled into her new room. It was empty of course, but it too would soon be filled with her bed, posters, and other things. The only thing here was the nightstand and her makeshift bed in the corner, a sleeping bag of sorts. Reaching into her pocket, she grabbed the small metal object and placed it on the table.
A stack of pancakes. A small bit of silver shaped in a pile of a breakfast food.
How trivial.
