Ace woke up, still in his dragon form, purring from how nice his nap had been, when he heard shuffling, lots of leather being shoved and pulled and the faint grunting from Hiccup. Eyes wide awake, the night fury's head frantically snapped behind him, only to spot the brunette sitting atop of his dragon tail with his back turned, working on something as if he was adding some things like the blacksmith he is.
Hiccup raised his hand and that's when Ace was able to see what he was holding. A rope, and he's tying something to his tail. Fuzzy, the fire fist didn't really think much and went back to eating, munching on the raw fishes, and realizing they tasted better while he was in his dragon form. He began to move alot which startled Hiccup and glanced behind him with a smile. "Hi there sleepyhead, ready to fly?"
In response to that, the night fury let out a whine, as if he's just trying to say he couldn't make out of what the hell the brunette was saying about flying. Besides, he can't fly! Even it took him a day to realize his left tailfin is missing, which was a crucial part to most dragons. Hiccup hummed as if he understood, (he didn't.) The dragon barely bothered to shove the boy off, instead he continued to eat and savour his food to the last bite. At least for now Hiccup hadn't said anything. But he still continued to sit atop of his tail. Like how Ace minded his own business with his fish food, Hiccup minded his own business with doing whatever he was doing to his tail. The belt buckling and the leather strap tightening around it had got Ace curious to go and finish his food quickly so the dragon could see what the brunette was really doing. Peering over to his tail, he noticed the boy attaching some things to it, tying it with the leather belt and add rope around it. It only took him a while to realize Hiccup had made a brown tailfin for him and was making sure it was added and adjusted to the size. How kind of him.
Then it hit him. A prosthetic tailfin means he can finally fly. Slowly unwrapping his wings, Ace stared at the sky, grinning and took off, with Hiccup still clinging to his tail who, not long, let out a panicked holler from behind. But Ace noticed he wasn't even getting higher and higher like he should be. Rather, they were falling, a few seconds later and they're about to crash. What was going on? Didn't Hiccup already-
As soon as the said brunette unfolded the prosthetic tailfin, he flew, higher and higher to the sky. The night fury had been speaking, translated into joyful growls and roaring. The dragon flew around the forest, and as long as the cove was in sight he could go anywhere. A cheerful laughter came from behind. Ace glanced behind him to see Hiccup with a bright grin, a proud look eyeing his work, as if he'd accomplished something great to have reacted like this. If the fire fist was going to be honest, he'd feel that way as well, especially while his little brother Luffy had finally gone ahead from his hometown and to become a pirate king, gathering a crew on the way and effortlessly arriving in the grandline.
"Yes, yes I did it, it works!!" Hiccup continued to cheer. The sensation of flying had gone in an abrupt stop when Ace crashed into the trees, (mainly his fault for not looking in front of him), and the two of them falling back to the cove and crashed to the ground. However for Hiccup, he's been shoved to the pond waters. Swimming back up, hiccup's giddiness never left him, continuing to laugh and cheer as if this was his first time to experience his hard work pay off.
The dragon-human already knows how Hiccup had spoken of himself being the village runt, cast aside and disliked by mostly everyone for having done nothing productive and helpful for being the fishbone built he is and with his creative works getting into disasters instead. Just how much disappointment did everyone in his village give him to act this way? Ace frowned at the thought and shook his head.
They've flown a few more times, this time the brunette had sat down on the saddle, holding the rope from before on his left hand and pulling it to control the tailfin, but much to their surprise, they've often crash to the ground after fails of attempted reckless pulling.
