{ Kris' POV }

We walked farther up ahead after our fight with Lancer and found another sign along the way.

"'If you're reading this... I guess you're dead.'" - Signed, Lancer." I read, noticing the path leading right. We followed it, leading to a bigger area where Lancer stood by another sign.

I silently read what was on the sign before addressing him.

"Ho ho ho... if it isn't my four favorite people," he said smugly.

"We just met you 3 minutes ago."

"...S-sike! You aren't even in my top five!" he said shakily.

"Lancer, can't you just be useful and tell us the way out?!" Ralsei huffed. "Of course not! That wouldn't be very EVIL of me, now would it?" he smiled. "Let's just do this on our own," I sighed.

We walked past him as we took another right, checking what might be over there. There was a tree that grew star-looking fruit.

"Rals, what are those?" Jupes asked. "Those are Dark Candy! Despite their name, Dark Candy is actually a sickly sour fruit that's shaped like a star!" he explained. "Oh great, finally some food," Susie sighed. I reached on my tippy toes and tried to grab the fruit.

But I was too short...

This is humiliating.

Susie giggled as she watched me struggle when she popped up beside me.

"You can always ask me to help you up there, you know," she said, smirking. "I can do it myself," I frowned. "C'mon Krissss, you can barely reach the branches!" she gestured. I hummed frustrated before sighing and accepting her help. She let me climb on her shoulders and get the two Dark Candies down. I shoved one into my pocket, tossing the other one to Susie as I sulked about needing her to help me.

I'm supposed to be the strong and fearless leaderrrr...

She was so smug about it too,,,

With her hot hair... and her hot face... and her hot everything,,,

"Can we go now?" Jupes said impatiently. "Yeah, yeah let's go," I sighed.

We went back up and to our right again, when Lancer warned us.

"Hey, if you head that way, my troops will thrash you," he said. "That a threat?" Susie asked, growling lowly. "I prefer to think about it as an invitation," he smiled. Susie jolted toward him to scare him but I pulled her back as we continued ahead.

Two slug-looking creatures frantically paced the area, their scleras striped green and orange as they kept dropping their daggers. Its skin faded from green to white, with green and orange diamonds all around its torsos.

We slowly approached them as they screamed in terror, slowly coming towards us as a battle started.

*BATTLE START*

* A broken necklace of Rudinns reluctantly blocked your path!

I went to check them to see what I could possibly do to spare them.

Might do this for every new Darkner we come across.

"What's the plan Kris?" Jupes asked. "All of you defend while I check, once I know what to do, we'll act from there," I said. They all nodded affirmatively as I proceeded with my plan of checking.
