"Everybody cancel your weekend plans." Dean said, letting his lunch tray clatter onto the table, the force knocking a package of twinkies off of his tray.
"Ooh, is it time?" Jo asked, jamming fries into her mouth.
"It is indeed. Winchester annual cookout commences this weekend. You guys know the drill."
"I'm making rabbit stew." Ash said, shooting finger guns across the table.
"No one wants to eat Thumper, you weirdo." Jo exclaimed and rolled her eyes.
"I will figure out something else." He said, retracting his finger guns.
"I have a raid this weekend," Charlie said without looking up from her phone. "But depending on what time everything goes down I can make an appearance."
"Yeah I'm going to probably make a Facebook event and send it to everyone with the confirmed details. But I just wanted to throw it out there before you all go home and log into whatever things take up your time."
"There's an annual cookout?" Cas asked, snatching a handful of fries off of Dean's tray.
"Oh!" Jo exclaimed, "Have you never been to one? They always have one in the spring."
"Nah, mom got the idea for it after Cas left. Wanted me to be social or whatever. Not a huge deal. Anyways Cas, this weekend at my place, potluck style cookout. Bring a dish, something cool and fun. Obviously mom would kick my ass if I didn't tell you that Anna is also invited. Not Michael though, he sucks."
Cas laughed and shoved his food around on his tray.
"I think we can definitely manage to come to this thing."
Seeing Cas' smile was like looking at the sun sometimes. The warmth carried him from one moment to the next but it was still a reminder that there was a time when the sun went away. Still he would bask in it while he could.
