It is near the end of senior year of high-school. Everyone is 18.
Todoroki walks slowly through a tunnel that leads out of the training arena. Bakugo's plan had worked. Together, they had just won a match against Kirishima and Midoriya. It went exactly as Bakugo had said it would. Todoroki is impressed. Now they can start phase-two of the plan.
Bakugo comes barreling down the corridor and latches onto Todoroki. He swings him around and sets him back down. Then Bakugo does a short celebratory dance which ends with a big smile on his face and his hand up in the High-Five position. There is a moment when nobody moves.
Todoroki can feel the pride radiating off of Bakugo. It makes him feel proud too. It has been a long time since anyone had beaten Midoriya but together they had made it look easy. It hadn't been easy but nobody needed to know that.
Then Todoroki is overwhelmed by a feeling that can only be described as trust. Bakugo wouldn't smile like that in front of just anyone. You have to earn a smile like that. At the root of the smile is trust. That trust is warm and comforting to Todoroki.
He also notices how strikingly beautiful Bakugo is in this moment, in full uniform, battle-worn and dirty. He had the strong smell of sweet smoke and the happiest expression Todoroki had ever seen him make. Bakugo looks hot.
Then Todoroki realizes that phase-two of the plan is the last time he and Bakugo will team up. They are playing their last card. There will be no more sneaking around trying to get Kirishima and Midoriya to break up. No matter what the outcome of the plan is, there will be no more reason for Todoroki to be a part of Bakugo's life. No more strategy meetings. No more texts. No more angerly-dispensed advice. No more shopping trips. No more Bakugo.
Todoroki strides forward bypassing the high-five, cups Bakugo's face in his hands and kisses him hard. Tiny little sparks crackle in Bakugo's up-turned hand. Todoroki releases him, takes two steps back and waits for Bakugo's reaction.
Bakugo's hand is still in the air. It slowly lowers while he is trying to decide whether he wants to be angry or not. Todoroki waits. Bakugo's face settles into an expression that Todoroki believes to be curiosity. Bakugo takes a deep breath, then his gauntlets fall to the floor by his feet and he takes one step forward. Todoroki takes one step forward and they grab ahold of each other. Todoroki has his hands in Bakugo's hair. Bakugo has his arms around Todoroki. They kiss again. It is slower and softer this time. This is Todoroki's first real kiss. He has been so infatuated with Izuku Midoriya that he has never wanted to kiss anyone else. There had been an awkward and embarrassing 'spin the bottle' moment that happened in front of half the class involving Hagakure but that doesn't count. Fortunately, Bakugo seems to know what he's doing so Todoroki lets him take the lead.
The teacher's voice comes through the earpieces they are both wearing. "Alright, that's enough you two. The next match is set to begin. Vacate the premises."
Bakugo looks around and sees the newly installed security cameras. He realizes that most of the class has just witnessed everything. There is a large explosion, then Bakugo took off.
After dinner, Todoroki went to look for him and found him at his parent's apartment. He was reluctantly admitted entrance. It's Friday night and Bakugo's parents are out of town (of-course). Todoroki and Bakugo are standing just inside the doorway.
"I don't want to talk to you! The plan was working! You ruined everything!" Bakugo said angerly.
"No, you ruined it by running away." Todoroki rebutted.
"You can't go kissing someone then turn around and tell someone else that you have feelings for them!" Bakugo said.
"Why not? That is what Kirishima did."
