- Let's just sleep tonight, A-Huan. – Jiang Cheng mumbled, blushing, as they were being driven home. He truly hoped Brent could not hear him whisper in the tender skin of his loved one.
Lan Xichen only nodded slightly. That bruised body needed to heal.
Quickly, he changed the subject:
- A-Ning was really cute tonight! – he cooed. – The way he spoke about A-Li's baby! Ah!
- Please, don't remind me about this madness. – Jiang Wanyin mumbled now.
- Why madness? I think he's gonna be a great dad one day! – Lan Huan said dreamily. – I think... you... your... sister... is gonna make a great mom, too! Strict and screaming all day long! – he grinned a little now.
But it was too late for that mask; Jiang Cheng had caught the misnomer.
- Why are you talking about kids all of a sudden? – he looked up sharply now, suspicious.
- Mmmmm.
- Don't just moo now! Answer me! – he snapped, escaping from his embrace and sitting up on the temptingly fartoo-comfortable back seat.
- Remember? – Lan Huan started, his gaze wandering off, through the impressively large panorama car door window. – Remember when I told you about my dream?
Jiang Cheng bit his lips. It was a stupid fairy-tale. Unrealistic.
- I really wanna do it, Wanyin. – Lan Xichen murmured, not bothering to look down, but feeling his lover rest his head in his lap quietly.
This hands did the habitual thing, undoing the dark bun, even in the dull, velvet darkness of the warm, purring car. The silky curls spilled all over his lap and his knees, and he sighed, truly calm, truly happy.
- What is the ultimate win in life, Wanyin? Money? Possessions? Success? Power? Ruling over people, resources, corporations? Having people respect you, fear you? And then? Becoming... President? CEO? Wealthy? Being healthy? What is the ultimate worth in life? The ultimate goal?
The tame words were spilling off his lips, and, quite subconsciously, Jiang Wanyin heaved himself, curious, and moved to sit close, sit in his lap again – it was quite comfortable and easy now – and then placed his hands over the familiar shoulders, staring at him intently.
