Xiao's POV
Each day, ever since we've almost parted for good in that one incident, I miss him more and more. His warm smile, eyes I could stare into forever, his presence. Him.
A groan leaves my body when I try get up supporting myself with a weapon covered in blood.
Weakling, you are in no position to rest!
I wonder If we ever meet again?
A thought of a happy reunion over shines the sorrow and creates a smile underneath my new mask. With another attempt my body definitively collapses back down following with painful coughs. Left arm keeping me from hitting the ground was shaking uncontrollably, the other one quickly removed the mask and pressed it against my chest. It mustn't get stained!
My job is still not done yet, get the hell up!
I looked around, but my vision was clouded making it almost impossible to see anything. They are still here, I can feel their aura, the insatiable hunger of demons hiding in shadows.
With the mask holding close I finally manage to get up. "Thank you..." Wind carries the heavy whisper away.
There! A growl sound appeared followed by a thrust of my polearm. Did I hit it? I stagger and shake my head in hope to go back to senses. How pathetic. Suddenly everything becomes quiet. Almost deafening silence falls upon the land of the Geo archon's, only the moonlight is now showsing the hidden truth about one of countless ugly battles covered in a blanket of fog, which have happened.
Until a moment when out of the blue a familiar voice cuts through, a voice that always paralyzes my already slow body.
"Xiao..." I become attentive. Could it be really him? But from where! "XIAO!" WHERE IS HE. I can't sense his location!
I leave everything as it is without second thoughts. He's my priority. He cannot get hurt. With the rest all of power within my body, I attempt to teleport myself, It was always so easy, but now? It's as if I was trying to move with a mountain. Stay there, I'm coming! The ground beneath my feet disappears and millions of stars flash before my eyes while one of them is getting closer and closer until it absorbs me and I appear in Wangshu inn, a popular tourist spot for people on travels between the nations. "Aether!" No answer. All I can hear is my heart beating like crazy. "Where..." Cough. "are you!" Repeating over and over while running down the rusty stairs.
"Xiao!" Someone grabs my arm, which makes me lose the already poor balance.
I stumble with the stained polearm slipping away. A loud rattling noise resounds upon impact with wooden floor.
Who is it? "Aether?" Trying to focus on the image in front of me was no use, everything felt so distant including the voices as if I wasn't even there.
"You cannot pass out you hear me! Stay with us, keep talking, you'll be okay!"
"Leave, It's dangerous..."
Control over the body left me soon after. To be continued...
