Saraya Jones it the half-sister of one of the best singers in glee Mercedes Jones. She also lived with he dad in L.A for a bit of time but she was eventually sent to Lima when her father discovered her drug addiction hoping that being in a different state with her sister would help her. Saraya is said to have just as good of a voice as her sister. Saraya is a very flexible and fluent girl she loves to sing and dance on top of gymnastics.
Which is why she decided to join cheerleading and Glee so she could do both things she loves. She met Santana before getting into either activity when she accidentally bumped into her in the hallway. Then she was sat down next to her in one of the classes they share. At first Santana is her usual self but eventually she starts to warm up to Saraya.
She had kinda developed a crush on the cheerleader from their first meeting. But she held off because she thought Santana was straight and wouldn't like her back. Saraya became one of the big voice that Mr.Shue would use when it came to winning the competitions. Which she loved but sometimes she would be replaced with Rachel who acted like a spoiled brat.
Along the way she also began to develop a crush on her best friend Quinn Fabray. Quinn was the first to initiate much to Saraya's surprise they started a relationship it was hidden but certain people knew about it. Santana turned very jealous and would often send glares the two girls way or attempt to make them jealous.
Due to her addiction there were all kinds of things that could have set her off and a few times she almost dipped back into it. She managed to stay strong with the help of her sister but even then it was still very hard for her to deal with. Before coming to Lima she had been in a few rehabs that helped a little but now as much as her dad wanted.
Saraya always was very good at hiding her addiction from her friends and family and she had to be if she wanted to keep it going. Being forced to quit cold turkey almost killed her the first time so her dad threw her into rehab as he had basically ran out of options. After about the third time through he decided it was enough and sent her to live with her mom and half sister hoping that would help her.
