Packing. I hate packing. It's a Saturday at 8:15 a.m. and all I've been doing since I woke up at 6:00 a.m. is pack.
I live in Chicago and I always have. Everything is here, my friends, some family, I mean I grew up here.
It's going to be difficult for me and my family to adjust to this new lifestyle.
We are moving to California. My dad got a job there and couldn't turn down the offer because it payed a lot more than the one he has now.
I'm not happy about it and neither are my friends but my parents are, so I guess I should put on a smile for them.
"Are you almost done packing?" my mom, Rachel, asked.
"Almost," she started to walk away until I stopped her, "Mom wait.. are you as excited as dad is about this move?"
"You know sweetie, I'm happy for him but I know how you feel about your life being here in Chicago. It's going to be difficult, but we will get through it."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure." she reassured me, "be ready in 20 minutes, honey."
"Okay."
*approximately 20 minutes later*
"Becca!" my mom yelled upstairs, "are you ready?"
"Yes, hang on, I'll be down in a minute!"
I was video chatting my friends before I left so I told them bye and trudged downstairs. I saw my mom and dad standing by the door. This was really happening.
"You ready Becca?" my dad, Eric,
asked.I sighed, "As ready as i'll ever be."
"Well, let's go. Come on people get in the car we have a flight to catch." My dad grabbed the car keys and headed out the door.
Once we all got in the car, I put my ear buds in immediately to listen to 'American Idiot' by Green Day, which was one of my favorite songs at the moment, to drown out my parents boring conversations.
Right when I put in my ear buds in my eyelids became heavy, so I decided to take a short nap on the way to the airport. Before I know it, i'm
going to be starting my whole life over, and for now I just need to get my mind off of it and sleep.*******
