Sqeak. Apollo's ears jerked up at the sound of a mouse, his amber eyes looked out the glass door.

"You can't seriously be thinking of going outside." His littermate, Gale, said with slight irritation.

"It might be better than here..." Apollo mumbled, still looking out the door.

"Are you kidding me? What can be better than this?" Gale asked as he plopped down on his nest.

"Having freedom." Apollo said firmly and tore his gaze from the door to his fat littermate.

"That she-cat is eating at your brain! She's a rat I tell you." Gale warned him for the 100th time.

"She's not a rat. She's a cat that is lucky enough to have her freedom." Apollo corrected him.

"Whatever... when she comes around and claws you in the back, don't come crying to me." Gale said as he layed down his head.

"When have I ever gone crying to you?" Apollo asked in slight disgust.

He was responded by silence. 'Go figure...' Apollo thought to himself. Then he heard a soft meow from outside. He smiled and ran towards the open window and jumed outside. He looked up to the fence and saw the source of the meow.

"Fierce!" Apollo chirped as he ran over to the fence and jumped to it.

The ginger tabby she-cat purred. "Hey there, crowfood." She greeted jokingly.

"Oh... haha..." Apollo laughed along sarcasticly.

This caused, Fierce to laugh harder which woke up a certain cat.

"Hey there little rat!" Gale called out from the window.

Fierce groaned. "Go back to your nest, you fat fox-dung." The she-cat snapped at him.

"At least I have comfort and warmth." Gale pointed out. "What do you have?" He added.

Fierce smirked. "I have my guts and survival skills that you're going to need when your twolegs throw you away." She said proudly.

"My twolegs would never throw me away!" Gale snapped at her.

"All of them do it at some point..." Fierce grumbled.

"Go back to sleep, Gale!" Apollo yowled.

Gale just scoffed and went back to his nest.

"Sorry about him... you know how he is." Apollo said apoligetacly.

"It's okay. I'm going to be the one laughing when he gets thrown away and has no idea where to go." Fierce scoffed.

"Do you mean it?" Apollo asked curiously.

"All twolegs do it... they only care for themselves at heart." Fierce said truthfully.

Apollo nodded slowly, then he looked out to the forest. "So do you have anything on the Forest Cats?" He asked, still staring out into the distance.

"They're big and they're mean. Well not all of them. I've met a few that are actually really nice, but most of them are mean." Fierce said as she followed his gaze. "You can't blame them though. They have to watch over they're clan, each other and themselves. It's a big, tough world out in the forest." She added, looking at Apollo from the corner of her eyes.

Apollo's ear flicked. "I know... but I still want to be free! Be able to run out when I want to, breathe in the fresh air." He said longingly.

"I know that feeling, and it's great once you get your freedom. But you also need to know the basics of surviving, the rest you learn on your own." Fierce said calmly.

"You taught me what I need to know." Apollo said as he turned to look at Fierce.

"I taught you what I know as a loner. I can't teach you what they know as Forest Cats, because I have never been in a clan." She corrected him, also turning her gaze to him.

"What's the difference?" He asked, tilting his head to the side.

Fierce sighed. "They go through moons in training to hunt and fight. Us loners, we don't get that." She said.

Apollo nodded in understandment and looked out to the forest again. They shared a moment of silence, just enjoying each others company.

"I'm going to run away." Apollo finally said, he then let out a sigh of relief as if he had been holding that information for too long.

Fierce looked at him, her blue eyes wide with surprise. "Really?" She asked in slight happiness.

Apollo could only nod. "Tomorrow we're going to that other twoleg's place. I'm going to take advantege that they are distracted from getting our cages, then I'll run off." He said proudly.

Fierce smiled. "I am starting to think you're passing time with me too much." She said, trying to stiffle her laughter.

"No way." Apollo said, also trying to stiffle his laughter.

Apollo turned his head to Fierce and she did the same. They stared into each other's eyes for a moment and they blurted out laughing. After a while they had calmed down and settled.

"Well I have to go inside." Apollo said sadly.

"Yes you do. You'll need the energy for tomorrow." Fierce hurried him.

Apollo chuckled and licked one of her ears and jumped off the fence.

"I'll be waiting for you right here." Fierce said and jumped off the fence, but the oppisite way.

Apollo sighed happily. 'Tomorrow, I'm officially a loner.' He thought to himself.

He trotted back to the twoleg place and jumped through the window. He landed on his paws on the floor without making a noice. He then trotted to his nest and curled up in it, drifting off into peacful sleep.

Apollo was in a forest, without the thing around his neck. He heard a squeak and instantly got into a crouching position. He stalked closer to where he heard the squeak from and saw that it was, infact, a mouse. He licked his lips hungrily and got ready to pounce, but just then the breeze grew stronger and the mouse ran off. Apollo stood up, his wind ruffling in the strong breeze.

"Apollo..."

Apollo's head jerked back to where he thought the voice came from. 'That's weird... I swear I heard a--'

"Apollo."

This time the voice was clearer, more stronger. Apollo looked around nervously.

"Apollo."

The voice sounded like it was right next to him. His fur puffed up and he got to a defensive position.

"APOLLO!"

Then from the bushes came out a large black cat with yellow eyes and it pounced on Apollo.

Apollo jerked awake, panting slightly. 'Not the same dream again...' He thought to himself.

"Wake up, Apollo." Gale's voice brought him back to reality.

Apollo looked around and saw that the twolegs were going about in the den. Picking up things and putting them in their box like things. 'Today's the day...' He said to himself.
