"I want little kids like me to have hope given to them, rather than have to stubbornly make their own like I did." - Deku? I think he's some Pro... by Clouds on AO3
- She just wanted to be a hero. Why did an extra toe joint mean it was impossible? Was she crying? She just wants to be a hero.
- After a disastrous doctor's visit, a little girl goes home to search for "quirkless heroes". What she finds gives her a little bit of hope. All she wanted was to be a hero. That's what everyone her age wanted, or at least everyone else in her class. Most of the others had already gotten their quirks, so her mom was a bit worried that hers hadn't come in yet so they were going to the doctor. At least, that's what Mama said as she walked her toward the train station.
Then the mean doctor came in. He didn't seem mean at first. He just came in, talked with her mom a bit, and then took her to get an X-ray of her foot. It was after he came back with the X-ray that he was mean.
"It's not gonna happen kid. You're quirkless. Give up on being a hero before you get hurt."
"Are you sure doctor?" Her mama had a weird tone to her voice, one she couldn't figure out.
"Look at this X-ray. This is her foot. See how her pinky toe has two joints? There and there? That means she's quirkless and everything that comes with that," the doctor sounded grossed out - like Juchan when his mama makes him eat green peppers.
"Of course. We'll be leaving." Oh. Mama sounded angry? Kind of like when that stranger insulted Uncle Kasu. But she couldn't really think about that over her thoughts and the doctor's words bouncing around her head. She just wanted to be a hero. Why did an extra toe joint mean it was impossible? Was she crying? She just wants to be a hero.
As they left, she asked "Mama? Do you think I can be a hero?"
Her mama didn't answer for a while and she almost asked again, thinking Mama hadn't heard her question when she responded, quietly, "I don't know, Sweetheart. I don't know." And then that started bouncing around too.
When they got home, everything in her head had solidified. I can't be the first. Right? There has to be someone else like me! Right? ...right?
"I'm going to go on the computer quick, Mama! I want to look for something."
Mama seemed a bit startled (she learned that word last week!), but let her go anyway. "Ok, Sweetheart. Be safe, I'll come check on you in a bit."
She ran off, turned on the computer and opened a new tab. She knew what she was looking for, she knew how to find it and how to spell it (her mama and her teachers say she's a really fast learner), but she was a bit... scared(?) about what she might find. What if she finds nothing? What if what she finds is somehow.. worse? But after a minute, she starts typing nonetheless.

There. Right there on the screen. Proof she could do it. Someone else already had."Mama! Come here! Come look!"
Her mama came running into the room. When she saw her pointing excitedly to the screen she came and looked at the screen. Reading the articles in front of them, Mama started to cry. "I think we figured out the answer baby. I think you just might be able to be a hero after all."
AN: I wrote this in less than an hour. I finished rereading the fanfic quoted above and this unnamed OC was itching to come to life.
