Rachel stayed with Hawk that night before going to her house. Luckily, the neighbor didn't mind having Elaine sleepover and it wasn't like Rachel wanted Elaine to see her like that anyways. She hadn't spoken to her dad that entire morning, but it didn't matter, because she didn't feel like speaking to anyone anyways.

Why? Today was her mother's funeral, and her mother's side of the family wanted Rachel to speak at her mother's funeral. What was she supposed to say? There was too much she wanted to say in such a small amount of time. Not to mention, she couldn't say a lot of things in front of the other family members.

"We're gonna see Aunt Katy again?" Elaine asked as Rachel slipped a black dress over her head.

"Mhm," Rachel replied, pulling on blue jeans and a flowy black long-sleeved shirt.

"Is Uncle Johnny coming with us?" Rachel shrugged as she pulled on her black combat boots.

"He said he was gonna come with us earlier this week, so I guess." Elaine hopped up on the bed and pulled in her little black dress shoes. "What do you wanna do with your hair, Elaine?" Rachel asked, she had curled her own hair this morning. Amanda showed her hair years ago, but she only tried again today.

"Nothing." Elaine frowned. Rachel knew she meant that she just wanted to brush it, so that's what she did.

The two girls sat quietly in the back of Johnny's new car. Rachel wanted to ask where he got it from, but she still didn't want to talk to him. Elaine leaned into Rachel's side, whilst Rachel stroked her hair. Johnny came to a stop and when Rachel looked outside, she saw the funeral home. The two started to unbuckle.

"I can come to get you guys after the tournament." Rachel stopped, as well as Elaine.

"You're not coming with us?" Rachel asked, looking at her dad through the review mirror. Except he wouldn't look at her.

"No, today's the All Valley and I didn't realize that the funeral was on the same day." Rachel sighed, picking up Elaine who was practically attached to her hip. "Rachel-" Johnny started in an exasperated tone.

"No, it's fine." Rachel interrupted, slamming the car door shut behind her.

She wished her dad was there. She needed him, especially now. She had to see most of the family members she hated. Especially her grandma, Beatrice, her mother's mom. The stories she heard from her mother, were terrible.

"It's great to see you, Rachel." Beatrice held Rachel's shoulders before she pulled herself away from her grasp.

"I don't even know why you're here, you didn't even love mom." Beatrice scoffed, she hadn't seen Rachel in ages.

"Of course I did, I love my daughter!" Beatrice dabbed a tissue into the corner of her eyes, despite the lack of tears.

"You have a weird way of showing it," Rachel muttered, little kids ran around the chairs, sometimes Rachel wondered if her aunts and uncles were ever tired of popping out kids as if they were a personal kid factory.

Rachel walked away as quickly as possible, sitting down in a chair that had her name on it. Literally. Elaine wouldn't let go of Rachel, despite her cousins running around and wanting to play with her. Everyone was allowed to go up and see Rachel's mom in an open casket, but Rachel could see her mom like that. Even with the makeup, she was sure was piled onto her mother's face to make her look more lively.

"Rachel, would you like to speak?" Rachel's head snapped up from the floor, as one of her older cousins spoke. She couldn't say no now, she'd seem like an ass if she did. She stood, sitting sleeping Elaine on her chair, and walked up to the little podium.
