I looked out the window of the car, watching as the houses slowly passed by us in our new neighborhood. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of passing by houses that each looked like a copy and paste as the one before it, we arrived at our house. Which, to my surprise, was not like the rest.
It was the middle of winter, the house was covered in snow. It was honestly really pretty. It would be a nice new start, away from the drama of the small town I used to call home. Forks Washington just wasn't my thing, or my mother's, apparently.
I got out of the car, afternoon sun flashing in my y/e/c eyes. I squinted, using my hand as a shield from it's bright rays of light, taking a better look at the house.
(Ignore all of the decorations on it haha, sorry)
I walked inside and ran upstairs immediately, claiming the second biggest room for myself, knowing that the one with a bathroom would be taken by my mom without question. I felt a wave of excitement run through me, along with adrenaline for some reason, and with this new burst of energy, I decided to finish up decorating my room, which I knew would take over an hour.
I was very satisfied with my room. For a final touch, I put my favorite desk, a black one, on the other side of the room, setting my water bottle, my journal, and a pencil holder with my favorite pens inside on top, along with the charger I'd be using for my phone.
Exhausted, all I wanted to do was to fall onto the bed and go to sleep, which is exactly what I did.
I woke up at 6:00AM to get ready for school. This was a very important day. First impressions were gonna set my social group for the whole year, and I wanted to at least have one. I picked out my outfit:
(Change it if you want, ofc)
I immediately ran downstairs, noticing the time, and grabbed a piece of toast before I ran out the door. It was only a quarter mile drive to school, but I didn't have my license, so I would be forced to walk.
"Bye ma!" I yelled to my mom, who was inside, but the window was open, and she waved to me while taking a sip out of her 'best mom' mug. My mom wasn't starting work for another couple of hours, and she worked from home anyway, so her work days were always relaxed. It was good for her to be relaxing right now, I thought, you know, after the move.
I arrived at school a minute late, and the halls were already completely empty. I knew it was gonna be different, being in a private school, but the fact that no one was out walking to their classes anymore?
The joys of getting to school right at the end of the first semester, I guess.
I was walking around the halls, not sure where I was headed, looking at the schedule I had wrinkled in my hands from fiddling around with it. While I was walking, I bumped into someone.
"Ow!" I exclaimed, realizing that whoever I had bumped into was much taller than me. I felt a wave of anxiety pass over me, as I nervously looked up.
The boy I had bumped into had curly hair, and a sharp jawline. He was definitely attractive, definitely my type, but something about him made me feel more nervous than it made me feel butterflies, and this didn't get better when he decided to speak to me, finally.
"Watch yourself." He said, continuing to stand in front of me without budging, as if he were too above me to move out of the way and it was my job to move.
"Don't talk to me like that." I said, looking back down at my schedule.
He put his finger under my chin and tilted my head up, and I rolled my eyes.
"Look, buddy-"
"Shut. Up." He said, putting his face close to mine, his nose basically touching mine as he spoke.
"Careful on how you speak to people." He said. I looked down, and he forced me to look back up at him by tilting my head up with his finger under my chin, again. I rolled my eyes.
"Fuck off, creep." I said, shoving past him, realizing I'd finally made it to my first period, I guess.
I walked inside, the entire class moving their gazes from the board to me, who was standing there awkwardly next to the door.
"Ah, welcome! You must be...Ms. y/n?" The short, chubby man who appeared to be the teacher said, standing in front of me with a warm smile on his face.
He wore a moss green sweater, with khaki colored dress pants and dark brown, leather dress shoes. He also had round glasses sitting on his face. He appeared to be very kind in my opinion. I was guessing that I would like this teacher.
"Oh yeah, that's me." I said, but before he could tell me where to sit, I felt another person walk into the class behind me.
"Mr. Wolfhard. How thoughtful of you to be fashionably late, once again, for the hundred fifty seventh time this year.
"Ah, keeping count, I see," He said, pushing past me to get to his seat.
"Please, charm our new student with your gentlemen like ways, starting with pushing by her like she's Jake or something!" He said, and everyone in the class chuckled.
"Hey, teach!" The kid who was probably Jake said. "Always me!" He said, and everyone laughed again.
"Settle down, class. Anyway, ms. y/n, you can sit...in the back, next to Finn. Finn, raise your hand so she knows where to go, will you?" The teacher said. Finn raised his hand, giving me a death stare as I walked between the rows of seats, sitting down where the teacher had instructed me to sit.
Finn leaned over, and whispered into my ear, his lips slightly touching my ear as he spoke, "You better not be a pain."
I sighed uncomfortable, pulling myself away from him. I hated him already. He was so arrogant. He was so entitled, and rude, and unwelcoming, and mysterious, and hot.
"Did you hear that?" He said, and I rolled my eyes. "Shut the fuck up." I said.
From under the table, he flipped me the finger, and I scoffed, but then froze up a little when I felt him whisper to me again, "You'll be sorry that you said that."
I stiffened up a bit, but quickly relaxed my posture to make it seem like I didn't care what he was saying.
"Whatever." I said, turning my attention the teacher, who had already begun to explain the next thing we would be working on.
From the corner of my eye, I watched the corner of Finn's mouth turn up into a smirk. He knew he had made me nervous.
This was going to be a long year.
