CHAPTER 1: THE DISCOVERY

Tensions had been brewing between India and China for some time, and the border dispute conflict had only made matters worse. After India managed to defeat China in the border conflict, China was looking for ways to get revenge. They began developing a virus, a deadly strain that would be capable of causing mass destruction. The virus was designed to make people go mad and attack others, biting and infecting them with the virus.
China’s plan was to unleash this virus on India and create chaos and panic, ultimately weakening the country from within. They chose Delhi airport as the starting point and sent some infected individuals there to spread the virus.
As the infected individuals arrived in Delhi, they started to bite and infect others. The virus spread rapidly, and soon enough, the whole city was in chaos. The infected individuals started attacking anyone they saw and biting them, spreading the virus even further. The situation was quickly spiraling out of control, and the Indian government was struggling to contain the virus.
The virus had spread beyond the Airport and had now reached Delhi University. In one of the classrooms, a student suddenly felt unwell and had a bite on his hand. The professor asked him to solve a math problem on the board, but within minutes, the student attacked the professor, biting him on the neck.
The other students were shocked and horrified as they saw the infected student biting everyone in the class. Chaos erupted as students tried to defend themselves, but they too were bitten and began turning into zombies.

Shweta was frozen with fear, but Shreya knew they needed to get to safety. She grabbed Shweta’s hand and pulled her towards the university’s gymnasium. They barricaded the doors and windows with whatever they could find.
Shiv fought valiantly, but there were too many zombies. He was quickly outnumbered and overpowered. Shreya and Shweta could hear the commotion from the gymnasium and feared the worst. They were trapped and had no way out. The situation looked bleak as the sound of the zombies grew louder and closer.
Shweta was trembling as she opened the door to let the others inside the gym. “Come in, hurry!” she said.
Shreya, Raj, Sumit, Ayan, Jahnavi, and Shruti rushed inside, panting heavily.
“What the hell is going on? Why are people attacking each other?” Shreya asked.
“I don’t know, it’s like they are infected with some sort of virus. They just bite and attack anyone they see,” Raj replied.
“I can’t believe this is happening,” Jahnavi whispered, tears streaming down her face.
“We have to find a way out of here. We can’t stay here forever,” Sumit said.
“But where do we go? Everywhere outside is chaos,” Ayan added.
Shruti hugged herself, shivering with fear. “I don’t want to die like this. What are we going to do?”
Shweta tried to comfort them all. “We have to stay calm and think rationally. Maybe there’s a way we can fight this virus or find some safe place.”
“But how do we fight something we can’t even see?” Shreya asked, her voice shaking.

The group huddled together, scared and uncertain of what the future held. They knew that they had to stick together if they wanted to survive.
As Ayush entered the gym, everyone rushed to him. Shiv asked urgently, “Did any of them bite you?”
Ayush shook his head. “No, they didn’t. I was lucky.”
Relieved, Shreya hugged him. “Thank God, Ayush. We thought we lost you.”
Ayush hugged her back, feeling grateful to be alive. “I thought I was a goner too. It was chaos out there.”
Sumit looked at Ayush with suspicion. “How did you manage to avoid them? We were struggling to get inside the gym without getting bitten.”
Ayush hesitated for a moment before speaking. “I was hiding in a deserted classroom. I could hear them outside, but they didn’t seem to find me.”
Shiv looked at him closely. “You’re sure you’re not infected?”
Ayush nodded. “I’m positive. I would have turned by now if I was bitten.”
They all breathed a sigh of relief. They were safe, at least for now.
But as they sat down to catch their breath, they could hear the growling of the infected zombies outside. They knew they couldn’t stay in the gym forever. They had to come up with a plan to survive.
As Raj searched for information on his mobile, he stumbled upon a breaking news article that sent chills down his spine. The headline read:

Shweta was able to get through to her mother, who answered after the first ring. “Maa, are you okay?” Shweta asked urgently.
“Yes, I’m fine beta(daughter),” her mother replied. “What’s going on? Why do you sound so scared?”
“Ma, there’s some kind of outbreak at the university,” Shweta said quickly. “We’re trapped in the gym with some other people. Can you come and get us?”
There was a long pause on the other end of the line, and Shweta could hear her mother’s ragged breathing. “I…I don’t think I can, beta,” she said finally. “It’s not safe out there. You need to stay put and stay safe. I’ll keep trying to call you. Don’t worry about us. We’ll be okay.”
Shweta’s heart skipped a beat as she saw Aryan’s name on the caller ID. She hesitated for a moment before picking up the phone.

“Hello?” she answered tentatively.
