Hiccup had been so relieved about today. Today was the day he would be killing the monstrous nightmare, but fortunately it had been postponed. His father had informed him. Though he failed to hear the next few words his father was trying to say to him. He's been focused on how lucky he's been!
He was able to meet Ace again.
Excited, the brunette bursts out of his house completely dressed, a basket of fish behind him (which doesn't seem quite heavy to him since) and ran for the woods. Astrid was training early morning in the woods, she saw the certain boy running and watched him eagerly run for the cove and smiled, placing a hand on her hip. “That moron definitely didn't hear the chosen vikings and their family would be gathering with Gothi at the mead hall for a meeting.” she exclaimed to herself, by 'chosen vikings' definitely meant the whole Haddocks family of berk was going to be needed and be present at the hall. But the gathering would start in the afternoon, so why not and let the brunette enjoy his spending his time with Ace?
Hiccup and Ace definitely went on a morning flight. Both of them grinning ear to ear and they eagerly took off to the skies. Hiccup piloting and operating the prosthetic tailfin effortlessly and Ace gliding up and down the air. They really need to do this often, considering Hiccup had tasted the great feeling of flying and had craved for it ever since. On the other hand, sure it'd be tiring for Ace but if anything, then anything to keep the boy happy. (Tamed dragon instincts he tells you!)
They caught more fish to fill up the basket and lit up a campfire together without Ace in his human form having used up his firepower to start a fire. They ate fish and after making sure Hiccup had eaten well, a lot and enough, Ace returned to his dragon form to eat the rest of the remaining raw fish. The boy shuddered whenever the man described the taste of raw fish and how delicious it was to his perspective as a dragon. But hey, Hiccup cannot blame him if the raven-haired man was stuck to being a dragon before he realized he can return back into his human form and been forced to eat raw fish for his hungry dragon instincts.
They talked more, eventually trained more, trained Hiccup more on fighting after their food in their stomachs had been digested and had flown more into the sky. Both of them forgetting time exists and it was turning afternoon soon enough. “Hiccup?” Astrid called out, but there was no response coming from the cove. Instinctively, she ran inside, fearing the worst the dragon could have eaten him, but no, Hiccup is alive and well, taking a look at his dragon’s prosthetic tailfin and making some notes silently while the night fury himself was somehow laid on the ground, looking so, lifeless.
“Wake up bud, try to adjust your tail so I can get a better look at- Astrid, hey!” Hiccup perked up, seeing his crush appear just a few feet from him with a beautiful smile. “What brings you here?”
“I came looking for you, your father's going nuts he can't find you but I said I know where you were so I was hoping to get you out of the cove as soon as I can before they start looking for us.”
“Why- Why would he need me? Didn't today's 'kill the dragon for honor!' is postponed for at least a few days?” The brunette questioned and the blonde stared at him, eyebrows raising. “You didn't listen to your father through the whole talk didn't you?”
Hiccup shook his head and shrugged. Astrid facepalmed. “The reason the event’s postponed is because of Gothi. She wanted to let a few people know about something. She selected a few families, including mine and yours, there's definitely the Jorgensons, I do have a gut feeling our families along with us children have been the selected few to gather in the mead hall later to begin the meeting with her.”
